  1. Southampton's biggest European night?published at 20:07 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November 2016

Southampton v Inter Milan (20:05 GMT)

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport at St Mary's Stadium

The home section is not quite full but it's not far off for what, with respect to Sporting Lisbon, Athletic Bilbao and Steaua Bucharest, must constitute the most attractive European game Southampton have ever hosted.

Sporting were the last team to win away at Saints in Europe, 35 years ago.

That was at The Dell of course. And Southampton have only played six games on home soil since.

Looks like Gary Neville has copied and pasted his earlier tweet. But with one notable change of course. Swapping ' Manchester United' for 'Southampton'....

Plenty of late goals in the early kick-offs.

Artiz Aduriz has scored his third penalty of the night, his fifth goal, in Athletic Bilbao's 5-3 win over Genk and in doing so becomes the first player to score five goals in a Europa League match.

Rapid Vienna scored in the 85th and 90th minute to earn a 2-2 draw with Sassulo.

Anderlecht went one better and scored three goals in the last five minutes to thrash Mainz 6-1.

Other results: Zorya Luhansk 1-1 Feyenoord, Astana 1-1 Olympiakos, Qabala 1-2 Saint-Étienne, Maccabi Tel-Aviv 0-0 AZ Alkmaar, Astra Giurgiu 1-1 Viktoria Plzen, Austria Vienna 2-4 Roma.

The results mean Zenit are through but Azerbaijan side Qabala are out.

I'm pleased to see that the fourth official electronic boards are seated and ready to spring into action for this match. The same couldn't be said at White Hart Lane for Spurs v Leicester last weekend.

We'll keep an eye on any reaction from Manchester United's defeat at Fenerbahce but we've made a swift digital leap to the south coast of England as Southampton take on Inter Milan.

The Saints fans are as up for a bit of Europa League action as the Fenerbahce ones were as "When the Saints Go Marching In", rings out around St Mary's, drowning out the Europa League anthem.

  7. 'Changing manager not a problem for Inter'published at 20:02 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November 2016

Southampton v Inter Milan (20:05 GMT)

Southampton manager Claude Puel speaking to BT Sport: "It is always difficult to play against because it is a strong team which has changed their trainer. It is not a problem for them because they have great players. It is a difficult game but a good game for my players. We have young players who will learn a lot and of course I hope for a good result."

James Ward-Prowse was still an academy kid dreaming of making his first-team debut when Southampton were in League One and Inter were champions of Europe.

Now the Saints midfielder is lining up against the Italian giants on home turf.

"Having been at the club for a long time, obviously I have seen the growth of the club on and off the pitch," he says.

"The club has worked incredibly hard for nights like this and we as players, the manager and staff want to be involved in games like this.

"A lot rests on the game, so bring it on."

    Zenit St Petersburg 2-1 Dundalk

A brave performance from Dundalk but Zenit prevail to book their place in the last 32 knockout stages of the competition thanks to a double from Giuliano.

Dundalk can take confidence into their next group game against AZ Alkmaar at the Tallaght Stadium in Dublin with their qualification hopes still alive.

Manchester United drop to third in Group A after that defeat. A win would have all but secured their place in the knockout stages but now they have a bit of work to do. They next host Feyenoord before travelling to Zoya in their final group game.

David Ekeleme: Just like Rooney of old!!

Peter Collins: If Rooney could do that more often, he'd play more. Nobody doubts his class, it is the huge lack of consistency these days.

Manchester United have finally found some much-needed urgency Wayne Rooney's header is cleared off the line by Emmanuel Emineke, before the visitors call for a penalty as Ander Herrera's strike appears to hit a defender's hand. Nothing given.

    Wayne Rooney

I tell you what, this game has delivered some wonderful strikes.

Manchester United are back in this with a goal and it comes out of nothing, as Wayne Rooney gets the ball with his back to goal, turns and launches a fierce strike into the back of the net.

A vintage Rooney strike - his 247th for United - which gives the visitors a glimmer of hope.

    Fenerbahce 2-0 Man Utd

Alper Potuk is not the only player ambling around on the pitch, you could say the same for a number of the Manchester United players. There's a distinct lack of urgency from them as Anthony Martial sends a speculative effort over from distance.
