When Sergio Romero arrived at Manchester United from Sampdoria in July 2015, it was thought he was coming as a replacement for David de Gea.

In the end, De Gea's move to Real Madrid did not go through, so Romero has been the stand-in.

His record is not bad though. Two defeats and six goals conceded in 12 appeareances prior to tonight's game. And Jose Mourinho has reason to be thankful for the two saves the Argentine just made.

Anthony Muindi: United are missing Herrera's aggression.

MK: If you're going to play Ibrahimovic, play him as a striker. He is pathetic as a playmaker and dropping deep.

Chance! Zlatan Ibrahimovic with a nutmeg on a defender, it's stabbed over the top and Henrikh Mkhitaryan slides in but can only push a shot tamely at Brad Jones.

Manchester United looked excellent - well, good - for the first 10 minutes or so. Since then stalemate, with Feyenoord having the best opening. Phil Jones was done over for that chance. He's playing alongside Daley Blind tonight - how many centre-back partnerships is that in the last few years?

Dirk Kuyt...SAVED! That was almost the moment for the former Liverpool man.

Phil Jones is totally skinned by Eljero Elia on the left, his cut-back finds Rick Karsdorp, whose powerful drive is pushed out by Sergio Romero.

It falls for Kuyt though, 10 yards out, on his left foot and falling over, gets it on target and Romero just about keeps it out with his hip.

    By hook or by crook...

He's faded since, Harrison. Largely your fault.

It is of course Sergio Romero in nets for Manchester United tonight, not David de Gea. Though he is on the bench, which seems a waste of his time.

Roma 1-1 Viktoria Plzen; Athletic Bilbao 1-1 Sassuolo

    Edin DzekoImage source, Reuters

The big man Edin Dzeko put Roma ahead against Viktoria Plzen but the Czech side hit back. Dzeko still has it in spades you know, that's 16 goals in 21 matches for club and country this season.

The Italian side will secure top spot in their group if they win.

Two goals in nine minutes see Atheltic Bilbao and Sassuolo level. Raul Garcia levelled for the Spanish side. That's a key game as the sides sit second and third in their tight group.

There is not a huge amount of pace in Manchester United's front four, but a lot of footballing intelligence.

They have only combined really well once so far with a fabulous move that ended with Wayne Rooney's pass just running on too far for Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Paul Pogba hits one from 22 yards, always rising but Brad Jones tips it over the top. From the corner Michael Carrick hits a low left-footed shot which is deflected and Jones just about scrambles it away...

After that bright first few minutes it's all gone a bit stodgy. Feyenoord seeing more of the ball now but they haven't got to within shooting distance of Sergio Romero's net.

  14. Goal in Dundalkpublished at 20:21 Greenwich Mean Time 24 November 2016

    Dundalk 0-1 AZ Alkmaar

Dundalk should have been more aware of the danger posed by Wout Weghorst.

The AZ Alkmaar man has given the Dutch side the lead and he's now been involved in 10 goals (8 goals, 2 assists) in his last 12 starts.

A blow for the Irish side early on. A draw tonight will mean a draw in their final game against Maccabi Tel Aviv would be enough. As it stands though, AZ are in pole position for that runner-up spot.

Paul Pogba with an old-fashioned shoulder charge, like being run over by a mobility scooter, the defender just bounces off him but his cross is not up to much. Daley Blind is then lucky not to be booked for a cynical tug back on halfway.

It looks like Dirk Kuyt is playing in a deep midfield position tonight. Other than centre-back I think I've seen him play in every possible position. He turned up as a left wing-back under Louis van Gaal in the World Cup.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan plays a classy one-two with Wayne Rooney, but the final touch is swept up by Brad Jones in the Feyenoord goal.

SonsofPunjab: No more excuses for Utd tonight, either you are good enough or you are not, it really is that simple.

Giddie: Wary of Dirk Kuyt. He used to be a thorn in United defence during his time at Liverpool.

Two very nice, neat touches from Henrikh Mkhitaryan so far. Is he going to flourish or is he the latest flair player to go missing at Old Trafford? Angel di Maria, Shinji Kagawa, Memphis Depay...

The Feyenoord fans are well fuelled after that afternoon in the city centre and are in excellent voice, as Paul Pogba slips and lashes a shot wildly over the bar.
