Southampton win a free-kick. Get Le Tissier on! He's in the stands...

The ball in is decent though and it's flicked away for a corner.

  3. Postpublished at 69 mins

    Sparta Prague 1-0 Southampton

Fraser Forster makes another decent save, down to his left to stop a drive from Borek Dockal. Just not happening for Southampton.

Crobs: There is no greater comedown than seeing a great pass to the right wing then realising Cuco Martina is running onto it.

  5. CLOSE!published at 65 mins

    Sparta Prague 1-0 Southampton

Close! Very close. Lukas Marecek leans back and smashes in a rising drive which has Fraser Forster worried, he won't get there, he can't get there - but it flies just past the post.

Hard to see anything other than a home win now.

Southampton have lost their mojo here, falling back, losing possession and looking increasingly fragile at the back. A cross almost catches Fraser Forster out but lands on the roof of the net.

  7. GREAT SAVE!published at 58 mins

    Sparta Prague 1-0 Southampton

Almost game over for Southampton, who have made a right pig's ear out of dealing with set-pieces tonight. Again it's a good ball in by Borek Dockal, one of those crosses which could go straight in without a touch, David Lafata is close to it but doesn't touch it and Fraser Forster has to push it out.

At the moment Southampton are showing desperately little in terms of an attacking threat. It's slow, static. pedestrian football at the moment.

It's a familiar pattern to the opening moments of the second half, Sparta constructing a yellow wall of 10 bricks and asking Southampton to huff, puff and blow it down.

Maya Yoshida shoots from 40 yards. Wide, wasteful, woeful.

    Remember me?

Dirk Kuyt is back in town! The former Liverpool forward/wing-back scored a hat-trick against Manchester United once.

Now, aged 36, he is still scoring in the Eredivisie and will play his 98th game in Uefa competitions tonight. If selected.

There are plenty of Feyenoord fans around Old Trafford tonight - 3,200 with tickets and quite a few without apparently - there is plenty of noise, lots of songs in English including the Liverpool anthem 'You'll never walk alone' but I haven't seen any trouble so far thankfully.

Indeed, there are areas of Manchester city centre where you wouldn't know a football match was happening.

Greater Manchester Police have undetaken a major operation though, walking the visiting fans the three-and-a-half miles to Old Trafford from the centre of town.

They were then put in a holding area, before being walked to the main car-park, which has been emptied for the evening, and then taken to the stadium entrances in groups of around 200.
