Now, aged 36, he is still scoring in the Eredivisie and will play his 98th game in Uefa competitions tonight. If selected.

There are plenty of Feyenoord fans around Old Trafford tonight - 3,200 with tickets and quite a few without apparently - there is plenty of noise, lots of songs in English including the Liverpool anthem 'You'll never walk alone' but I haven't seen any trouble so far thankfully.

Indeed, there are areas of Manchester city centre where you wouldn't know a football match was happening.

Greater Manchester Police have undetaken a major operation though, walking the visiting fans the three-and-a-half miles to Old Trafford from the centre of town.

They were then put in a holding area, before being walked to the main car-park, which has been emptied for the evening, and then taken to the stadium entrances in groups of around 200.

Manchester United make six changes from the side who drew 1-1 with Arsenal on Saturday. As expected, Henrikh Mkhitaryan makes his second start for the club. Wayne Rooney and Zlatan Ibrahimovic also come in. Sergio Romero replaces David de Gea in goal, while Daley Blind and Luke Shaw also enter the mix.
