    Sunderland 0-0 West Brom

Wahbi Khazri earns himself a borderline standing ovation from the Sunderland fans for closing down the West Brom back four and harrying them into a mistake. You can't fault either side for effort so far. It just needs a spark from somewhere.

    West Ham 0-0 Middlesbrough

Jordan Rhodes has hardly had a sniff on his Premier League debut. But the Boro striker doesn't need many touches to make an impact. Just ask Champo defences. His one touch in the Hammers box is a glancing header which Adrian watches go harmlessly past his left-hand box.

  3. Notts County game abandonedpublished at 15:28 British Summer Time 1 October 2016

The match between Notts County and Morecambe is abandoned after 10 minutes because of poor weather conditions.

  4. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 15:27 British Summer Time 1 October 2016

    Hull 0-0 Chelsea

Victor Moses has been a tricky character for Chelsea in these opening stages and goes down in a tiger sandwich. The home fans have a collective intake of breath - but there's nothing given.

    Sunderland 0-0 West Brom

Jermain Defoe is again close to the opener as he swings and misses at a corner, the ball had ping-ponged its way off the calves of Craig Dawson.

    Watford 0-0 Bournemouth

This game is challenging Hapoel Be'er Sheva 0-0 Southampton for the worst game of football we've seen this week. More tepid than bath water that has been there for an hour.

  7. 'Payet needs more help'published at 15:25 British Summer Time 1 October 2016

It's frustrating to see a Slaven Bilic side playing as bad as they are this season after the previous campaign. What West Ham have shown us this year they need more players to stand up and be counted. There's a lot of pressure on Dimitri Payet but he'll be looking round and thinking 'lads come on, help me out here'.

  8. Championship latestpublished at 15:25 British Summer Time 1 October 2016

Former Manchester United midfielder Ben Pearson gives Preston a 1-0 lead at home to Aston Villa, who last won a game on 13 August.

Jackson Irvine scores his fifth goal of the season to give Burton the lead at home to Cardiff.

It's goalless in the eight other 15:00 BST games.

  9. Postpublished at 15:24 British Summer Time 1 October 2016

    Sunderland 0-0 West Brom

There's a football match under there somewhere, trying to get out. Darren Fletcher drives into the penalty area and puts a dangerous ball across the six-yard box - but Jordan Pickford dives gratefully on it.

    West Ham 0-0 Middlesbrough

More on woolly hat watch. We've spotted one on the West Ham bench. And it is Hammers assistant manager Julian Dicks wearing it. Thought he was supposed to be hard? I wouldn't say that to his face.

    Watford 0-0 Bournemouth

Jack Wilshere's first meaningful contribution today. A late sliding challenge on Juan Zuniga. Yellow card. At least he didn't injure himself doing it.

    West Ham 0-0 Middlesbrough

If one man is going to get West Ham going it is Dimitri Payet. And here he pops up twice in quick succession. First the Frenchman's cross-shot is blocked by Calum Chambers, then he curls just past the right-hand post after cutting inside. Is today the day we see Payet hitting the same heights as last season?

    Hull 0-0 Chelsea

Any danger of a goal? Anywhere?

Ryan Mason slashes a shot on the bounce wide at the far post after a promising Hull attack.

  14. Postpublished at 15:19 British Summer Time 1 October 2016

    Watford 0-0 Bournemouth

Bournemouth, decked out in smart bright blue, force Watford keeper Heurelho Gomes into action for the first time. A routine gather for the Brazilian though. Not much other goalmouth action to report.

    Sunderland 0-0 West Brom

Sunderland have two corners well cleared before West Brom counter and Matt Phillips shoots hard and low from a good 30 yards. Jordan Pickford is right behind it all the way though. Clean.

West Ham fans started the game in fine voice, although that will soon change if Middlesbrough go ahead. And they almost do! Viktor Fischer - the summer signing from Ajax - is yet to bag for Boro but he won't go much closer than this. The Dane fires across the far post from a tight angle.

    Hull 0-0 Chelsea

Victor Moses has four Hull men around him and he tries to beat the lot with a jinking run, he gets past two but is eventually crowded out.

It's not been a vintage start to the day's play.

  18. GREAT SAVE!published at 15:13 British Summer Time 1 October 2016

    Sunderland 0-0 West Brom

West Brom have a new dimension to their play in Nacer Chadli, and the former Tottenham man goes close to the day's first goal. He collects a cutback from the right, swivels to lash in hard and low and Jordan Pickford makes a good save. Sunderland's back four then make a right hash of clearing their lines but they just about get it clear...

    Watford 0-0 Bournemouth

Watford manager Walter Mazzarri is celebrating his 55th birthday today. I think we know what present he is hoping for today. Three points and a few goals. No sign yet of his team managing that though, other than that earlier Odion Ighalo chance. Quiet start.

  20. Postpublished at 15:11 British Summer Time 1 October 2016

    West Ham 0-0 Middlesbrough

The Hammers have been disrupted by that early change. Boro find their stride, pinging the ball around confidently in midfield. Stewart Downing - against his former club - tries to pick out Cristhian Stuani with a diag but he overcooks it.
