Out of nothing Arsenal conjure a good chance, Theo Walcott playing a one-two which totally takes the full-back out of the game, he has two in the middle but can't pick either out. From the following corner Phil Jones does really well to clear.

That was a perfect summation of the game - the ball was played to Michael Carrick in plenty of space but then it's a really poor effort well wide of the goal. We can say it now, it's been disappointing.

It will be interesting to see how Jurgen Klopp's men react to the international break.

It's taken Liverpool a long time since Steven Gerrard's slip to get back to the top of the table and I think they'll want to stay there.

    Man Utd 0-0 Arsenal

Arsenal have not got going at all. Marcus Rashford skins Carl Jenkinson with ease and is tripped by the right-back in the end. Free-kick, Anthony Martial to take.

In she goes - but that's awful. Cut back to the edge of the area and easily cleared.

Scrappy opening to the half. Marcus Rashford gets a shot away but it's well blocked by a lunging Shkodran Mustafi, who looks in pain afterwards. It hit the German on the hand actually, but only after his chest and thigh.

Get that man a velcro coat.

Anthony Martial then gets the best of Carl Jenkinson to bring down a long ball forwards but his shot on goal is tame.

Controversially and surprisingly, Arsene Wenger has put his coat on at half-time sadly sparing us the usual performance.

A lovely, sweeping crossfield pass from Paul Pogba to Antonio Valencia. It ultimately comes to nothing but that was very nice indeed.

Sir Alex Ferguson is all smiles as he makes his way out of the directors' box at half-time, posing for selfies with Manchester United fans. Not sure he would be laughing so much if he was still United manager when referee Andre Marriner refused that first-half penalty.

I think it's good refereeing from Andre Marriner with the penalty appeal - it's borderline and he's reffed the game trying to let the teams play.

It's a strange atmosphere as it always seems to be with these early kick-offs. It was strange in my day too - although one or two of us had only just got in from the night before, which was an issue.

I think Alexis Sanchez had the best chance of the game but Manchester United have forced Petr Cech into one great save and one good save.

Then they've had the was-it or wasn't-it penalty. It's been a good but not a great game.I think if it stays goalless then it's a good point for Arsenal.

So no goals, one big penalty shout and a couple of decent saves from Petr Cech.

Not a bad game - but it's not really fired into action just yet.
