Dusan Tadic is still being seen to on the sidelines. Wales taking their time in midfield now, they'll be happy to get to half-time with a 1-0 lead.

Having said that. Hal Robson-Kanu almost finds Sam Vokes with a header...

Dusan Tadic is actually bleeding very heavily from the bridge of his nose. The Southampton man has to come off for some strapping up.

Ashley Williams had spoken before this match about the need to replicate the spirit and atmosphere of last year's 1-0 qualifying win over Belgium - and there were echoes of that goal as Bale put Wales in front.

Hal Robson-Kanu created Bale's winner against Belgium by hassling Jason Denayer to claim the free-kick from which Bale scored.

On this occasion, Robson-Kanu forced Matija Nastasic into an error and fed Bale to spark wild celebrations at Cardiff City Stadium.

That makes much better reading from a Wales perspective.

Their next game - against the Republic in Dublin - is looking pretty tasty.

You will never see a more ridiculous yellow card given.

Dusan Tadic looks like he has been hit by Mike Tyson.

Gareth Bale is now into the book for arguing with referee Alberto Mallenco! Dusan Tadic went down in a heap after a high boot, he's bleeding in fact, but the crowd and Wales players aren't happy.

It is Gareth Bale with the finish but Hal Robson-Kanu does so well to steal the ball off Matija Nastasic. He is strong, holds up the ball, and Bale smashes it in.

That man again, Bale's 26th goal for the country. It was hit with so much power and precision.

The work from Robson-Kanu enables Wales to influence the game.

    Wales 1-0 Serbia

Cardiff is rocking now as Hal Robson-Kanu is close to heading home a second! Set up for the counter now, they do just that as Gareth Bale crosses this time, it's over Sam Vokes and HRK flicks it wide.

    Gareth Bale

The midfield may have been struggling but when you've got Gareth Bale in the team, who cares?

All credit to the patron Saint of Welsh lost causes, Hal Robson-Kanu, who chases an aimless ball and forces Matija Nastasic into an error and wins it back. He looks up, finds Bale on the edge of the area and his low shot is past Vlad Stojkovic and in before the keeper could even see it.

Actually, he nearly ran past the shot. I don't know what the keeper was up to there.

    Wales 0-0 Serbia

Antonio Conte has had some impact on Nemanja Matic. He looked washed up at the back end of last season but he's been brilliant since Chelsea went to 3-4-3 and he's a presence in the midfield so far tonight. Joe Allen can't get near him.

Serbia are now running this show, first to every ball and putting plenty of crosses in towards Newcastle lighthouse Aleksandar Mitrovic.

Gareth Bale has barely been involved in the last 10 minutes.

    Lichtenstein 0-2 Italy

Four other World Cup qualifiers are taking place and there have been three goals.

Italy, unbeaten in 53 qualifiers - a run which stretches back to 2006 - have scored twice against Lichtenstein, through Andrea Belotti and Ciro Immobile, and are on course for a comfortable win even though only 21 minutes have passed.

Israel are ahead against Albania thanks to an Eran Zahavi penalty. Macedonia are so far containing Spain.

Serbia whip two good balls in from the right wing, the first one flashes through the goalmouth and the second one is pouched by Wayne Hennessey. Filip Kostic then scuffs a shot wide from range. Serbia looking slick.

    Wales 0-0 Serbia

That was a let-off for Wales, and this is a decent, open game. Hal Robson-Kanu drifts out to the left and plays it inside for Aaron Ramsey to arrive on to, he can't quite get the ball under control though and it runs away from him.

Wales' players and coaches admitted they were flat on and off the field during October's surprising 1-1 home draw against Georgia.

The atmosphere was underwhelming on that occasion too, but it is a different story tonight.

The return of Aaron Ramsey has added zip and innovation to Wales' play, and the fans have responded to their positive start with a racket from the stands.
