Rob Tanner: Drove from Oxford to Ealing, 20 stops on Central line to Mile End, on bus to Upton Park the conductor tells me it's off due to fog.

Richard: 20 hours on a coach, and another 4 on match day, to see Wales beat Slovakia in the summer. No sleep, no leg room, no problem.

Ben Tiffin: Holiday in Marbella turned into flight to Barcelona to see Messi put 4 past Arsenal.

West Ham v Stoke (15:00 GMT)

If you think West Ham had enough problems trying to make their new home an environment which combines safety and atmosphere, you should take a look at their fixture list.

Following this game against resurgent Stoke, the Hammers have Spurs away, Manchester United away, Arsenal at home and Liverpool away as their next four league games - with another trip to Old Trafford in the EFL Cup for good measure.

Currently 17th, West Ham will do well not to be in the bottom three at the end of that sequence.

Not that playing Stoke could be described as a bit of light relief. After their own iffy spell, Mark Hughes and his men are now on their best run in four years.

West Ham v Stoke (15:00 GMT)

West Ham defender Winston Reid serves a one-match ban for accumulating five yellow cards, although a hamstring injury would have kept him out anyway.

Diafra Sakho and Andy Carroll should be fit after the international break.

Stoke are without forward Marko Arnautovic, who serves a one-match ban for accumulating five bookings.

Xherdan Shaqiri is a doubt after being withdrawn during Monday's win over Swansea because of tight hamstrings, while Geoff Cameron is set to miss out.

West Ham v Stoke City (15:00 GMT)

Away from the top of the pile, Saturday is mainly about action at the wrong end of the table.

Stoke City have pulled clear of the bottom three with three straight wins and today travel to a West Ham side who could do with that sort of run.

The Hammers are not only dogged by problems with the London Stadium, but also their own iffy start to the season. Three points above the drop zone, they've got a horror run of fixtures to come.

    FA Cup recap

The FA Cup (proper) began last night as non-league Eastleigh aimed to cause an upset in front of a national television audience.

The small Hampshire side led amid a carnival atmosphere at their Silverlake Stadium, only for League One side Swindon to poop the party.

It was a night of drama, emotion and a 'Banks-like' save. Read all about the tie here and watch the highlights below.

I mentioned that, although we have no early Premier League kick-off today, there is action in the Championship and FA Cup so that so lust for lunchtime football can be sated.

There have already been goals and you can discover them in our Championship live here and the FA Cup (where you can also watch them) right here.

Middlesbrough are looking solid defensively and sharp on the break.

It was a terrific performance from Manchester City in the week against Barcelona and they’d gone six games without a win. That’s a lesson to any clubs in the league – even City can go six games without a win.

The win against Barcelona was a watershed moment for Manchester City. The manager has been there done it, but the fans have not really brought into it until now. The scenes at the Etihad after the final whistle showed they enjoyed it - there was excitement. The other clubs in Europe will think they are not also-rans, they are in it to win it.

I don't think the players belief in Pep Guardiola waned, they knew the goals would come, the performance was there it just didn't get the results they deserved.

I didn't think he should have gone to the Euros. He'd had an injury and he looked like he'd lost a lot of belief.

Since then, he's working with a manager who believes in people who can run with the ball and create in the final third.

Aitor Karanka's team have looked much better going forward in their last two games, partly due to the selection of the lively, if unpredictable, former Barcelona junior Adama Traore.

Having seen what City did to the fully-fledged Barca though, being so adventurous again might not be Boro's best bet.

As Jose Mourinho's assistant at Real Madrid, Karanka only got the better of Pep Guardiola twice in 11 El Clasico clashes. It would be the upset of the Premier League season so far if he manages it here.

I think it has been a testament to Raheem Sterling this season, to show the maturity in his game and an ability to listen. From the player we saw in Euros to first day of the season, he seemed like a world beater. That tells me a lot about Raheem Sterling.

Some interesting tunnel gossip emerged after City's midweek win against Barcelona. Apparently Blues assistant coach Mikel Arteta had a few 'words' with Lionel Messi. And they weren't reported to be nice.

However, Pep Guardiola has a different take on the events...

"I spoke to Arteta. It is impossible that incident happened because he admires Messi a lot," says the Spaniard.

    No drama then.

A couple of games ago we were talking about it being the toughest period for Pep Guardiola after some very poor performances. The last two games have turned it around. That is all it can take some times.
