Ten Premier League players have been nominated for Fifa's Men's Player 2016 award - what seems to be the organisation's version of the Ballon d'Or.

The 23-man shortlist includes Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez and N'Golo Kante, who won the title with Leicester City.

Also named are Sergio Aguero, Kevin de Bruyne, Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil, Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Dimitri Payet.

Kante, Sanchez and Ozil did not make the Ballon d'Or shortlist but are in the running for Fifa's award, which will include a public vote.

Rochdale striker Calvin Andrew has been given a 12-game ban - one of the longest in English football history - for elbowing Oldham's Peter Clarke.

His ban is longer than the 10-game suspensions handed to Luis Suarez for biting and Rotherham defender Kirk Broadfoot for misconduct.

Andrew, 29, was not punished on the field, but was later cited after a Football Association video review.

  12. The opposite of 'to zlatan'published at 10:15 Greenwich Mean Time 5 November 2016

Swansea v Man Utd (Sunday, 15:00 GMT)

Zlatan Ibrahimovic's exploits have earned him a word in the Swedish dictionary but he might struggle to come up with an explanation for his recent famine of goals.

"To zlatan" means to dominate but maybe his current form is more the opposite of that.

He hasn't scored in six games and, despite his lack of goals, his Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has defended the Swede.

"In every Premier League match, even when not scoring goals, he's being fantastic and his attitude is always brilliant," said Mourinho.

Yaya Toure may have apologised but he may still find himself out in the cold as his agent Dimitri Seluk hasn't exactly helped his client's cause with his comments.

"I'm not apologising. We want peace, but I'm not apologising. Apologise for what?" Seluk told Talksport after Toure had issued his statement.

"Maybe Toure has apologised for this, but I don't know for what. I think Yaya doesn't mean this."

Does Yaya Toure's apology open the door for a first-team return or is it all too little too late?

Pep Guardiola said he would not pick the Ivorian until his agent Dimitri Seluk apologises for criticising the decision to leave him out of the Champions League squad but on Friday, Toure apologised to the club for "misunderstandings from the past".

He has only played one game this season - a Champions League qualifier in August - and has not played a single Premier League minute.

The midfielder's contract runs out in 2017 and he is free to sign pre-contract terms with other clubs from January.

As strange incidents on a football field go, we've got a cracker here.

North Korean keeper Jang Paek-ho came rushing out of his area and appeared to duck underneath his rival Uzbekistan keeper's long kick forward.

As the ball bounced towards his net, Jang clearly still had a chance of preventing a goal, but he threw himself on the ground before he could reach it, allowing the opposition to take a 1-0 lead.

North Korea lost 3-1 to Uzbekistan at the AFC Under-16 Championship in September and Jang was fined and banned for a year for deliberately conceding a goal that helped his side get an easier cup tie.
