A few touches here, a few touches there. Not much pattern to the play in the opening couple of minutes. Certainly no chances.

As with all Premier League matches this weekend, there is a minute's silence ahead of kick-off for the victims of Monday's plane crash in Colombia.

Particularly poignant for Liverpool's Brazilian players Lucas and Roberto Firmino.

The sun's shining and there's barely a cloud in the sky - as you might expect on the south coast - but there's a distinct December chill in the air. There are still a few gaps in the away section with Liverpool's fans, having made the long journey south, still streaming in as kick-off approaches. They've unveiled a couple of banners - stating that their side are "the famous Kopites" and "European royalty".

An even bigger banner is being unfurled out on the pitch as the players prepare to walk out - "Football United Against Domestic Violence".

I like the fact Eddie Howe is always positive.

Bournemouth take teams on and then if they lose they can say, 'well we gave it a go'.

This is not a foregone conclusion for Liverpool, they will have a tough game today.

Eddie Howe is hopeful Bournemouth have enough about them to beat Liverpool for the first time in their history.

The Cherries lost both games against the Reds - 2-1 at home and a 1-0 defeat at Anfield - last season and have not even drawn with them since 1968.

But Howe believes they have been close to getting positive results against the Merseyside club and with added concentration will manage to secure an historic victory.

"Our games with Liverpool have been tight, even back to our Championship days when we played them in the cups, but the quality they have in the front areas is among the best in the Premier League," he said.

"We know if we go to sleep at one end we'll be punished. And when the chances come at the other end, like they did at Arsenal... we need to find a way to be a bit more clinical."

The comedy bobble hats are out in their droves at the Vitality Stadium. And that's just in the press box. Chillier than a meeting between the warring Gallagher brothers.

One female Bournemouth fans is getting stuck into a juicy burger to keep herself warm. Complete with ketchup over her chin. She will hoping that doesn't make the MOTD2 highlights later...

Vine reckons Bournemouth will emerge 2-1 victors over Liverpool.

  14. Lallana back where it all beganpublished at 13:12 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2016

Cherries boss Eddie Howe spoke pre-match about how he knew Liverpool's Adam Lallana was destined to be a star.

The England midfielder began his career here at Bournemouth's centre of excellence, before being prised away by neighbours Southampton at the tender age of 12. While only a nominal fee changed hands at the time, crucially for the Cherries there was a 25% sell-on fee included, external in the deal for the precocious pre-teen.

Lallana did briefly feature for Bournemouth's first team in a month-long loan stint in 2007 when Howe was on the coaching staff, but his move from Saints to Liverpool in 2014 earned the Dorset club a considerable windfall. He's back on the away bench today after recovering from injury.

Two lines of five, knees to the chest, sprint, jog back. None of these fancy warm-up techniques for Liverpool. Old school.

Bournemouth are having a bit of two-touch in a small square marked out by plastic cones. The ball going to the other side when the man in possession is touched. Like a football version of playground 'tag'.

Jack Wilshere's return in the central attacking midfield role means several positional changes for Bournemouth from last Sunday's defeat at Arsenal.

Joshua King switches to the flank. Adam Smith moves back to his familiar right-back role, Simon Francis to centre-back, Nathan Ake to left-back.

And the man left standing when the music stops after this particular round of musical chairs is Brad Smith, who will sit on the bench alongside fellow ex-Liverpool man Jordon Ibe.

Hope they are handing out free sunglasses on the Dean Court turnstiles. Not for the eye-squinting sun. For the retina-burning Liverpool away kit.

Yes, they are wearing that infamous 'toxic and thunder' coloured kit as the New Balance marketing folk like to call it. Binman luminous green to me and thee. Or bogey green.

More on the Joe Hart/Claudio Bravo debate following Manchester City's defeat to Chelsea.

I think Guardiola might rue the decision at the end of the season. Some goals are going that you can question Bravo on.

The most important thing is can you keep goals out of the net?

The frustrating thing for the fans was Joe wasn't given the chance to show that he can play in the Guardiola system. He could have been coached.

Bravo wasn't set when Willian hit it (for Chelsea's second goal) and that meant he couldn't move or dive. Willian has ran from the half way line. He should be set and should be ready for it.

  20. 'Hart better than Bravo'published at 12:58 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2016

    Manchester City 1-3 Chelsea

    Shay Given
Stoke City & Republic of Ireland goalkeeper on MOTD2 Extra

Here are some interesting thoughts on Claudio Bravo following his performance yesterday for Manchester City against Chelsea.

We will be talking about Bravo all season because it was such a big decision to sell Joe Hart in the summer.

For me Hart is a better goalkeeper. Bravo was brought in supposedly because he is better with his feet but I don't think Joe was given time to show he was good enough with his feet.

Guardiola made it quite clear for whatever reason, perhaps because Hart was a big personality in the dressing room or because he is a fan's favourite that Hart would leave.
