A warm round of applause from the early birds as the two sets of players appear for the first time in the bright Dorset sun.

Why do people turn up in the ground so early? I don't really understand it.

Last time I went to Dean Court (as it was then called) everyone was playing footy on that pitch behind the away end. Great fun. Apart from our team losing.

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe was considered for the England job, says Howard Wilkinson, who was on the five-man panel who interviewed Gareth Southgate.

Southgate got the job on a four-year contract after impressing in four games in interim charge.

"Eddie was considered. He fulfilled many of the criteria but at the end of the day Gareth was in place, he had many of the qualities and experience that was thought important," Wilkinson told BBC Radio 5 live's Sportsweek programme.

"I'm sure Eddie's time will come. Foreign managers were considered but what was taken into account was what is the way forward."

Liverpool have good players. I am looking forward to watching them today.

They are scoring goals for fun and not conceding many. I am looking forward to this high press they play.

Timing is the essence. And Divock Origi, who scored against Sunderland last weekend and in the midweek EFL Cup tie against Leeds, has proved it.

The 21-year-old Belgian starts his first Premier League game of the season after injuries to Daniel Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho opened the door.

"You don't always have influence on timing but in this case it worked out really well because it was exactly one or two weeks since Div was back in shape, in the race, and has the good shape," said Klopp.

"He is still 21 and he hasn't had the most match time in the last few months so then he had no rhythm but he is always working, never moaning.

"Sometimes he is a little more confident, a little less confident - how it is with all people in all parts of life."
