I don't think Jose Mourinho is sold on his centre-half pairing. Mentally it's destabilising for Mourinho, he's such a conservative and controlling manager. He keeps chopping and changing at the back.

Paul Pogba is getting better and better. He started off playing in a two next to Marouane Fellaini, it was a different role he was asked to play, but having Michael Carrick in there frees him up. He gets through so much work, you look how many tackles he made against Everton, it was Vieira-esque.

  5. Who wins the alternative Ballon d'Or?published at 12:55 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2016

    BBC Three

There’s been just two winners of the Ballon d'Or since 2008; Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

With that in mind, BBC Three considers some alternative candidates.

    Take a look here.

Andy Parks: Impressive from West Brom, Chelsea barely threatening. Good test of their title credentials.

Fred Lowe: A reminder that we had 29 goals yesterday. WBA have come for the 0-0 - as well they should.

It's been an interesting watch. Watching Rondon within this team, he is giving Chelsea problems as well. He is occupying three centre backs and giving them a tough time.

When you are a striker and not getting much of the ball it can be frustrating, but he knows he is doing a job for the team and he is doing it well at the minute.

Tony Pulis has set his side up so well they are difficult to break down. Chelsea need to be patient, keep moving it and wait for that one person to switch off.

As it stands this point is enough to put Chelsea back on top of the Premier League, and put West Brom above Manchester United and into sixth.

Tottenham are very good defensively. When their back four is fit it is as good as it is. But it is a fine balance. They are defensively sound but they lack in final third. Not enough players contribute. Their strength is their weakness. Maybe they should open up more and score more goals.

If it's true that Toby Alderweireld has a release clause of £25m, it may as well be 25p. Any team would pay that tomorrow. They'd pay £40m.

It's great news for the player but bad news for Tottenham.

  14. 'Spurs are favourites'published at 12:47 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2016

Manchester United v Tottenham (14:15 GMT)

    Matthew Upson
Former Arsenal & West Ham defender on MOTD2 Extra

I think Tottenham are favourites. I think they’ll have a good performance.

I love how they go about achieving what they want. They develop players and give opportunities. That tells me they have a good formula.

  15. 'Mourinho starting to find his best team'published at 12:47 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2016

Manchester United v Tottenham (14:15 GMT)

    Mark Lawrenson
Former Liverpool defender on MOTD2 Extra

I've predicted a 1-1 draw and you can understand why because of the last few results for Man United.

United need to start winning games. At the start of the season a Champions League spot was an absolute must.

Slowly but surely Jose Mourinho might be starting to find his best team. I would expect results to improve. Performances are OK but it's all about results.

Jibin Mathew George: I want Chelsea to lose today, my Fantasy Football captain Costa to score a brace and LFC to win. Does that make sense?

Jaleel Oladipo: Often criticized for style but Pulis majority of the time, always have answer for in-form teams; feature of a good tactician.

Neil Leverett: For me, the difference with @diegocosta, external this season is he respects his opponent, with Claudio Yacob just then

Matty Phillips has been in excellent form during the Albion's recent good run but he's been a spectator so far, his first opportunity to run his man comes down in the let-hand corner and he wins a throw, which is volleyed out of play on the full by James Morrison. My number one pet hate in football, that...
