  1. '1-0 was a magic win'published at 16:48 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2016

    Man Utd 1-0 Tottenham

    Manchester United

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho, speaking to Sky Sports: "It's an important win against a very good team. We didn't deserve to spend the last 10 or 15 minutes with our hearts in hands because we deserved the goal. At this moment 1-0 is magic because we needed the points.

"I think everyone was feeling bad and that it could be more of the same. Again we had opportunities to score the goal, in the first half, in the second half. And we don't score, then we are always in risk because teams are good with good players and managers they try to change the game and have ammunition on the bench to that.

"Our heart was in our hands but he players gave us everything. These three points is magic because it's especially against a very good team so it means more for us. That's why I didn't change the team. The team and the players are playing well. Now we go to Crystal Palace and West Brom and we are happy with the evolution of the team and the players believe."

Everybody knows their roles within the system that Jurgen Klopp plays here at Liverpool.

It is the reaction when you give the ball away, that's what pleases Klopp the most. When they give it away two or three players hunt it down and win it back.

  4. 'We deserved other goals'published at 16:45 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2016

    Southampton 1-0 Middlesbrough

    Southampton

Southampton manager Claude Puel said: "In the first half we did not play with good fluency, but in the second half we were always strong and had good quality on the pitch. We changed the system, it was a very good second half and we deserved other goals.

"It is an important result after the disappointment (of going out of the Europa League). The three points are very important and it's always important after a disappointment to win the next game so we showed good character."

On match-winner Sofiane Boufal, Puel added: "He is a fantastic player - his qualities are fantastic. He can become an important player for the squad."

Puel is asked about club captain Jose Fonte, who has been linked with a move away from Southampton in January. "Now is not the moment (to discuss that), says Puel. "It is the time to stay concentrated until the end of the year. The importance is the collective of the squad."

    Liverpool 1-0 West Ham

A win today would see Liverpool stay third in the table, four points behind leaders Chelsea. Sadio Mane comes out to the right and pings a wonderful pass to Roberto Firmino, whose shot ends up in the Kop via a deflection.

Wale Ibraheem: That didn't take long. The way the Hammers are playing is just trouble waiting to happen. Hammers will get Hammered here today

Ash: As important as Coutinho is becoming, we are showing we don't need him to score goals. Conceding is our problem.

Dan Brown: Already, Adam Lallana shows how important he is to Liverpool

  8. 'Mkhitaryan injury not serious'published at 16:40 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2016

    Man Utd 1-0 Tottenham

    Manchester United

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho: "We don't think it's a serious injury. We don't think maybe Henrikh can play for a week. I was afraid it was serious but looks like it's not.

"Maximum a couple of weeks. It doesn't look like something that is very dangerous or difficult. He brings everything I want an attacker to play. Maybe one week out and it is better to be fresh for Boxing Day

"I am happy with that from Henrikh. I don't care about individual trophies but for a player like him who spends working and working it means a lot. Not just the way he's creating but his defensive participation in the team. He crossed the line to be a better player. He crossed the line mentally, that others have to cross. I want more from some of my attacking players. The two moments of recovering the ball are crucial moments. Mkhitaryan was superb on that."

  9. GREAT SAVE!published at 7 mins

    Liverpool 1-0 West Ham

Liverpool are hugely entertaining aren't they? Potent up front, open at the back. One pass sends Michail Antonio free for the Hammers but his shot is tipped away by Loris Karius.

Could end up any score here.

West Ham were far too passive. It was the movement of Mane and Firmino around him, getting into a wide position and seeing Lallana prepared to get beyond Origi.

It is far too easy. That is totally ominous for West Ham.

    Liverpool 1-0 West Ham

Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius is put under pressure for the first time and punches a corner out, Manuel Lanzini volleys it back over the top.

It was Winston Reid and Aaron Cresswell who had the popcorn out to watch Adam Lallana score. Close him down next time?

    Adam Lallana

That was so, so easy! Sadio Mane picks the ball up in the middle and streaks out to the left before picking out Adam Lallana in the middle. There are two West Ham defenders who just stand and watch as he controls, swivels and buries a low shot into the far corner at the Kop End.

    Woeful defending.

    Liverpool 0-0 West Ham

West Ham have gone back to a back four after their mauling by Arsenal last week. There's no obvious striker for them but it looks like Michail Antonio through the middle. Didn't he start the season at full-back?

James Drew: Bilic needs to get Carroll on asap in this game - the man scores goals!

Loser92: I'll be very surprised indeed if the Reds don't close the gap on top spot. They are a different class from the Hammers.

Jay: Given that they concede freely and and score more freely, I'm expecting Liverpool to make a mockery of all the 1-0 results today

Liverpool bossing the ball so far. They are an impressive attacking unit these days as Darren Randolph comes out to punch a cross clear.

  16. 'We did almost everything'published at 16:31 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2016

    Southampton 1-0 Middlesbrough

    Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka said: "We did almost everything, I can't say anything about the players. We kept working but in the Premier League you have to score your chances.

"We finished the first half well and I said we had to keep that intensity but they started the second half better than us. We're improving and growing, especially in defence."

Asked how much they missed the injured Negredo and Ramirez, Karanka replied: "It would be easy to say we missed them but we win and lose as a team and I am happy with the players who played."

You factor in why West Ham are in the position they are in, but realistically they can get into the top 10 if they put a run of games together.

It is more a negative mindset. We are seeing a more tense manager -  the pressure always mounts on a manager when they have money to spend over the summer and the recruitment hasn't gone as well as they would like.
