That should be a booking for N'Golo Kante. He has got away with one there, it was a clear pull back on James McArthur.

Jon Moss has a word with Chelsea 'ball blocker' N'Golo Kante for an incident that happened two minutes earlier when he hauled down James McArthur.

Card kept in pocket which means the ref remains on 53 for the season so far (see '3 mins' entry')

We have already seen where Crystal Palace can have success, down the right wing with Wilfried Zaha against Marcos Alonso.

Palace defender Damien Delaney is almost made to pay for a casual pass out from the back.

N'Golo Kante is alert to the loose ball, but the 'punishing-a-mistake' breaks down on the edge of the area.

Good work by Wilfried Zaha, up against Marcos Alonso on the right.

The tricky winger confuses the Spaniard on the right and delivers a good ball. However, he fails to pick out a team-mate - or a team-mate fails to read the ball. Either or.

  7. 'I want Palace to have a real go'published at 12:37 Greenwich Mean Time 17 December 2016

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Chelsea

It is very chilly today, but it is an opportunity for Crystal Palace.

They have players that can hurt Chelsea, I just don't want it to be a containing performance from Palace and I want them to have a real go. It will take a real performance as Chelsea are playing well.

Joel Ward and Jason Puncheon combine brilliantly down the right. Ward eventually has a chance to cross but it breaks down.

Palace are back on the ball though.

Good start by the home side who, let's be fair, are desperate for a win.

Early pressure on Blues keeper Thibaut Courtois from the fast-closing Christian Benteke. But the Belgian manages to get a good boot to it before his countryman could close him down.

The Palace fans are in fine voice as per usual.

Chelsea are so consistent. They are in that lovely groove where the players know how each teammate is playing.

They have a lot of players in good form and everyone seems happy, coming in and doing a job. Over the festive period that is massively important.

I think Chelsea will win today. Crystal Palace's confidence looks shot and it is perhaps worse for them playing at home.

  12. Palace will be 'right in Chelsea's faces'published at 12:29 Greenwich Mean Time 17 December 2016

On Wednesday (against Manchester United) Crystal Palace were far too passive.

They allowed United to build attacks but I think today they will be right in Chelsea's faces.

I think it will be a bit more competitive.

  13. Are Palace set for another 'annus horribilis'?published at 12:27 Greenwich Mean Time 17 December 2016

If Chelsea win at Selhurst Park they will equal a club record of 11 consecutive league wins, and condemn Palace to yet more misery.

It's astonishing to recall that at this time last season Crystal Palace were sixth in the Premier League and looking set fair for Europe. The Eagles were 11 points better off than Chelsea, who were a miserable 16th.

But Alan Pardew's side have taken only 26 points from the 35 Premier League games they've played in 2016 - if those matches had been played across a season rather than a calendar year they would have long since been relegated.

It will be of no comfort to anyone at Palace to recall that this 'annus horribilis' began with a 3-0 home defeat by Chelsea.

This Chelsea run will end at some point and I think it will end when they are away from home.

A point would be a great result for Palace and, although it will mean Chelsea drop a couple of points, it will not be a serious setback.

    Prediction: 1-1

  16. Head to headpublished at 12:20 Greenwich Mean Time 17 December 2016

Crystal Palace v Chelsea (12:30 GMT)

    • Chelsea have won five of their last six Premier League games away to Crystal Palace, keeping clean sheets in four of those matches.
    • Palace beat Chelsea 1-0 at Selhurst Park in March 2014 - but that is their only home league win against the Blues since 1990.
    • This will be Palace's final Premier League home match of 2016 - it was also their first game of the calendar year (a 3-0 home defeat on 3 January).

Here is more from pre-match Pardew, who has questioned some of the officiating in the last few games. Again, worth noting that his team have lost seven out of their last 10 league games.

"We've been a little bit disappointed the last few games with some of the refereeing decisions we've had but we can only try to force the luck our way," he said.

"The team are fighting and if we continue that fight then hopefully some of those decisions will go our way and that's all we can say to the players. The players are questioning it a little bit."

  18. 'We have to be brave'published at 12:13 Greenwich Mean Time 17 December 2016

Crystal Palace v Chelsea (12:30 GMT)

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew, speaking to Sky Sports, on Chelsea’s good run:

"That’ll make them complacent hopefully. They are a good side and that’s probably their strongest team today, with Eden Hazard and Willian.

"It’s important for us to block the pockets but also carry a threat. Against Manchester United there were periods when we didn’t affect the game enough. We have to be brave today and see if we can unsettle them.

"They’ve got a good tactical system but we have our own chance to unsettle their back three. Wilfried Zaha is in the form of his life and down Gary Cahill’s side we can get a bit of joy.

"We have to make sure we don’t sit back and can say that we’ve had a real go. I’d like to think today luck might shine on us because we’re due a bit, too."
