Chelsea manager Antonio Conte, speaking to Sky Sports:"It’s hard to leave players out but it must be normal because I want competition in this squad. Pedro played a lot of games and is playing really well, he’s having a fantastic season but I want to give him a bit of rest. Cesc [Fabregas], after a bad injury he played the last three games. I’m pleased for the good form of my players but when you play three times in seven days it’s very difficult."

On Chelsea's good run: "It’s hard to keep this way, that’s logical because the opponent wants to stop you. But we are working very well to try and win every game.

"If we start to reply to questions that start with if… It’s only important to play good football and to try to win."

Monday is Merseyside derby day and Football Focus takes a look at one of the most fiercely competitive fixtures in the top-flight calendar.

Former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson interviews his old team-mate and boss Kenny Dalglish about his shock decision to resign on 22 February 1991 - two days after after an epic FA Cup Merseyside derby at Goodison Park that ended 4-4 after extra time in February.

Crystal Palace v Chelsea (12:30 GMT)

Crystal Palace, with only one win in their last 10 Premier League games, make two changes from the side that lost 2-1 at home to Manchester United on Wednesday as Joe Ledley and Jason Puncheon replace Mathieu Flamini and Lee Chung-Yong.

    Crystal Palace

Cesc Fabregas scored the only goal as Chelsea won 1-0 at Sunderland on Wednesday but it is not enough to keep him in the team as he drops to the bench with Nemanja Matic coming back in.

Eden Hazard missed the midweek match because of a knock and he also returns to the starting 11, in place of Pedro, who is one of the substitutes.

Also on the bench is defender Kurt Zouma as he hopes to play for the first team for the first time since suffering a serious knee injury against Manchester United on 7 February.

Players see the China transfer window slowly creaking open...

How the Chelsea boss probably wishes he was a player today.

Antonio Conte said this week that China's spending power was a "danger" to global football, in reference to his midfielder Oscar and his impending £60m move to Shanghai SIPG, which would see the Brazilian earn a reported £400K a week (£20m a year). Not sure what that is after Chinese tax.... 399K?

I'm wondering is "danger" similar to "sick" in '2016 parlance'?

"We started to play when we were children without money, and only for the passion. Then, also, came money but the passion is more important than money, for me," said the Italian, who is reported to be earning £5m a year at the Blues.

    Thanks Tom.

Hands up who had Chelsea leading by six points after 15 games of the season?

One I see, ah no, you were just scratching your head.

Which is what a few are doing - it's not like new boss Antonio Conte has made many changes to personnel since Mourinho left.

The Blues are going for an 11th consecutive win which would equal the club's top-flight record, set in 2009.

Anyway, "The Different One" is up against "The..." er... "Alan Pardew".

Pards' Palace have lost seven of their last 10 matches, and come into this game on the back of a 2-1 defeat at home by Manchester United.

"We had Zlatan [Ibrahimovic] the other night, Diego Costa this weekend, so my centre-halves will have had a real test and that's what's great about the Premier League," said Pards.

It's not great if they score against you Alan, is it?

    Sunderland v Watford (15:00 GMT)

When Troy Deeney scored his 99th goal for Watford, Manchester City were top of the Premier League, Stoke City were bottom and England were reeling from Sam Allardyce's departure after one match and 67 days in charge.

Almost three months on, Deeney remains stuck on 99.

"Maybe he's feeling the pressure of these 100 goals but for us it's just important he plays for the team and then scores," says Hornets boss Walter Mazzarri.

West Ham have fallen well below expectation so far but have had a decent week, leaving them four points clear of the bottom three and in 15th place.

Last Sunday's draw at Liverpool was followed up on Wednesday with a 1-0 victory over Burnley, their first success in seven league games.

Hull have failed to score in any of their past four matches on the road, but if they find the net first here it'll be interesting to see the reaction of a Hammers team who at times have been suffering from what their manager Slaven Bilic describes as 'mental cramp'.

No festive cheer down at Stoke - Mark Hughes is having his boys in for training on Christmas Day. However, he insists he is a fan of the festive period.

"I enjoy it - we are quite a unique country that we play over this period, but that is a tradition of British football," he said.

"A few of the lads come here and scratch their heads wondering what is going on, but they soon buy into it. I loved it as a player and I love it as a manager too. There is always a really good atmosphere around the stadiums, and hopefully we can bring a bit of cheer to our supporters."
