Liverpool are unchanged from the XI that started the midweek win at Middlesbrough.

Daniel Sturridge is on the bench after a month on the sidelines with a calf problem.

Joel Matip remains out with an ankle injury, but Emre Can is among the substitutes after a lay-off.

When they go out for the warm-up they will relax more. A spark in the match that gets the crowd going will relieve some tension.

Liverpool had been hoping to have influential defender Joel Matip available after an ankle injury but he is ruled out and Ragnar Klavan is charged with the task of taming Everton danger man Romelu Lukaku.

There was talk of Mason Holgate coming into a three-man Everton central defence but in the end it is a straight swap, with Ramiro Funes Mori coming in for suspended Phil Jagielka.

Argentine Funes Mori was sent off in disgrace in Everton's 4-0 loss at Anfield at the end of last season for a dreadful tackle on Liverpool's Divock Origi, who will be in direct opposition tonight.

First man out for a look at the Goodison Park surface? Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.

The goalkeepers of both sides are going through their respective warm-ups, the men down at the Liverpool end have found themselves in the headlines of late.

Simon Mignolet keeps his place tonight ahead of Loris Karius. The right call?

I am going to go with a draw, purely because I don't know what is going to happen.

If Everton repeat the kind of form they showed in the second half against Arsenal then there will be fireworks.

The crowd carried Everton through that second half against the Gunners.

One of the oldest, one of the best. Maybe.

I've got a lot of time for Goodison Park, even if I did say that this game was at Anfield earlier. It can certainly provide an electric atmosphere at times and we can start Christmas week with a bang tonight.

I played at Goodison for various teams under floodlights. It's a great atmosphere. I nearly signed for Everton on a couple of occasions. If it's anything like Everton v Arsenal last week then it should be a cracker.

It's six years since Everton last enjoyed a league win over their great rivals from across Stanley Park and, in recent times, it's been a derby very much dominated by the red half of Merseyside.

That win for Everton in October 2010 is their only success in the past 19 meetings.

However, they will draw confidence from a stirring and much-needed win over Arsenal on Tuesday which stopped the rot after just one win in the previous 10.

Liverpool are unbeaten in the past 11 league meetings with Everton and arrive in scintillating goalscoring form this season but, perhaps just as importantly, kept a clean sheet in winning at Middlesbrough in midweek, coinciding with Simon Mignolet's reinstatement between the posts.
