    Real Madrid 1-1 Athletic Bilbao

It is all Real Madrid now, Mateo Kovacic's header going just past Cristiano Ronaldo and wide. Ronaldo would have been offside had he tried to steer it home.

    Real Madrid 1-1 Athletic Bilbao

Cristiano Ronaldo lashes another wide but it wasn't far away. The chance came from Karim Benzema's flick to the Portuguese. Only 20 minutes left now.

    Real Madrid 1-1 Athletic Bilbao

Real Madrid get a free-kick, Toni Kroos plays it in but Cristiano Ronaldo heads over the bar. He's missed a few chances today.

  4. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:08 British Summer Time 23 October 2016

    PSG 0-0 Marseille

An hour gone and the second half has pretty much followed the same pattern as the first. Marseille have shown a tad more ambition in the final third, but are still to register a single shot on goal. Blaise Matuidi has come on for Marco Verratti and the Italian has a few frustrated words with PSG boss Unai Emery as he traipses off the pitch.

    Real Madrid 1-1 Athletic Bilbao

Joshua Williams: Bale wasted on the right. Every time he's attacked down the left he looks the most dangerous winger in the world.

    Real Madrid 1-1 Athletic Bilbao

Moments after that substitution, the two players I was slightly criticising link up but Cristiano Ronaldo fires over Gareth Bale's cross from about 10 yards out.

  7. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:06 British Summer Time 23 October 2016

    Real Madrid 1-1 Athletic Bilbao

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane makes his first change - and it's not a popular one. Isco, who has been arguably their best player, comes off for Lucas Vazquez. Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale, neither of whom are playing well, stay on.

  8. Postpublished at 21:02 British Summer Time 23 October 2016

    Real Madrid 1-1 Athletic Bilbao

Real Madrid have their first chance in quite a while and the lively Isco picks out Karim Benzema with a cross but the Frenchman's header is easily saved by Gorka Iraizoz.

    Real Madrid 1-1 Athletic Bilbao

Real Madrid are looking really shaky and Mikel Rico drives a shot over from the edge of the box as the hosts only half-clear a corner.

  10. YELLOW CARDpublished at 20:56 British Summer Time 23 October 2016

    Real Madrid 1-1 Athletic Bilbao

Athletic midfielder Raul Garcia, a La Liga winner with Atletico a couple of years ago, is booked for catching Gareth Bale with an arm.

  11. Postpublished at 20:54 British Summer Time 23 October 2016

    Real Madrid 1-1 Athletic Bilbao

This is a huge chance for Athletic and Inaki Williams should have put them 2-1 up. Real Madrid go to sleep at the back and the ball breaks for the reported Liverpool target, who just lifts the ball over the crossbar from about 18 yards out.

    A head-in-hands moment for the 22-year-old. Literally.

  12. KICK-OFFpublished at 20:52 British Summer Time 23 October 2016

    PSG 0-0 Marseille

Back under way at the Parc des Princes. Lots of shouts of 'Allez Allez' from PSG's players in the tunnel before they headed out on the pitch. Marseille have made a change, bringing on Zinedine Machach for Tottenham loanee Clinton N'Jie.

  13. Postpublished at 20:51 British Summer Time 23 October 2016

    Real Madrid 1-1 Athletic Bilbao

Inigo Lekue and Gareth Bale seem to tangle in the box and Real Madrid's fans are screaming for a penalty. To be fair, the Real players didn't seem to strongly appeal for one. Nothing given.

  14. Postpublished at 20:51 British Summer Time 23 October 2016

    Real Madrid 1-1 Athletic Bilbao

Gareth Bale has attempted about three crosses from the left in the space of 60 seconds but they're all cleared away.

  15. Postpublished at 20:48 British Summer Time 23 October 2016

    Real Madrid 1-1 Athletic Bilbao

Real Madrid left-back Marcelo, who isn't having the best game (he said euphemistically), crosses the ball straight out of play.

  16. KICK-OFFpublished at 20:46 British Summer Time 23 October 2016

    Real Madrid 1-1 Athletic Bilbao

The second half begins. Can Real Madrid win to go top? An Athletic win would take them level on points with fifth-placed Real and Atletico in fourth.

    Real Madrid 1-1 Athletic Bilbao

No player attempted fewer passes than Cristiano Ronaldo's 10 in that first half. Sabin Merino also tried 10 passes, but he did score a goal to be fair to him.

In Italy, Roma are leading Palermo 1-0 at the break thanks to Mohamed Salah's goal. Edin Dzeko got the assist.
