    Tottenham 1-0 Chelsea

Nothing too complicated about Dele Alli's opener.

He strolled into the box between Cesar Azpilicueta and Victor Moses and Christian Eriksen got his head up and delivered the cross on a silver platter for him to head home.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte turned away in despair as Dele Alli headed Spurs in front. Christian Eriksen was allowed too much space to cross and Alli too much time to head past Thibaut Courtois.

Much joy around White Hart Lane - but caution too as this Chelsea team has proved its made of stern stuff. Remember the win at Manchester City?

Spurs would go third with a win tonight, above Manchester City and Arsenal.

I was about to say the two players Chelsea have done so well to keep quiet were Harry Kane and Dele Alli, but Alli pulls on to the back of Cesar Azpilecueta and the ball from Christian Eriksen is perfect.

Alli's confidence is high and he doesn't think twice, he just heads that one into the back of the net. It is a huge moment - Chelsea would have been thinking they wanted to keep it tight going into the break.

That's what the big games are all about, you are waiting for those moments, and Alli is the one who has made the difference. If anyone has been trying to make something happen, it has been Spurs.

Dele Alli was booked for celebrating with the crowd after that bullet header too. In a game like this with so many challenges going in that could prove costly.

A theory that is to be tested......

Conte is a technical genius, and his players are so determined, even if Chelsea were to go behind by one, I still fancy them to go on and win it.

    And there's the whistle!

Dele Alli scored with the game's first shot on target and White Hart Lane rings out with his name.

Are Chelsea going to lose a league game for the first time in 101 days?

What a header! Dele Alli is bang in form and breaks the deadlock with a header an out-and-out centre-forward would be delighted with. Christian Eriksen lifts in a cross, Alli finds a gap between Victor Moses and Cesar Azpilicueta and plants a header past Thibaut Courtois. That was unstoppable!

Diego Costa finds a channel of space between two of the three Spurs centre-halves and his touch is supreme to tame a pass from Pedro and bring it into his hitting arc - the flag is raised though. Chelsea ending the half well.

It's on such an edge here.

All these little passes in front of Dele Alli and Harry Kane, David Luiz has read everyone of them and stepped in front of them.

Every now and then you need to chuck a longer one in and make him think, as it's too easy for him at the moment.

Any sign of a goal before half-time? We need a big mistake or a touch of genius I reckon.

And now Victor Wanyama is booked for a foul on Eden Hazard. Spurs had nine men booked in the clash at the end of the season.

Gary Cahill duffs a header right at the feet of Christian Eriksen, his touch takes him past the England man who has no real choice but to haul him back with both hands. In the book.

Danny Rose whips in the free-kick and Eric Dier steers a header at Thibaut Courtois. Comfortable save.

Ollie Saunders: What a crazy crazy game, even if a goal is scored you're going to need to watch the full 90 minutes.

Kolo: Danny Rose is showing how poor Moses is defensively as a wingback, against a really good wingback.

Sam Pougher: Tottenham are now just trying to walk it in. They need to create much better and riskier chances to get ahead in this game.

  16. 'Chelsea not chasing record'published at 20:37 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January 2017

    Tottenham 0-0 Chelsea

It has been 50-50. They have been as good as each other. It hasn't hit the heights we all wanted it to hit yet, but I can understand why. There is so much at stake.

Chelsea are not chasing that winning streak, it's more of that 'winning the title' mentality.

Spurs do have to be cautious though as Chelsea have broken on the counter attack and have had space as Spurs have been high up the pitch.

Chance! Out of the maelstrom comes a moment of clarity as Eden Hazard gets the ball on the left and picks out Diego Costa inside with a very neat pass, Costa takes one touch to set himself but then leans back rather as he strikes his shot and launches it well over. Costa reacts with a primal scream.

It's busier than the front row of a One Direction reunion gig in the White Hart Lane midfield tonight.

The graphic below shows the average position of each player on both teams.

Tottenham full-backs Danny Rose (no.2) and Kyle Walker (no.3) are adding to the congestion as they push on, while Diego Costa (no.19) has dropped deep to get involved in the hurly-burly.

Danny Rose has a bandage of some sort applied under his shinpad and he's able to carry on. A stinger, nothing more.

Still waiting for the chance, the goal to kick this game into life.

"Come here. Here. Here." That was an arm-waving Antonio Conte to Marcos Alonso when he was standing just 10 yards further forward than his manager wanted at a free-kick.

    Conte the micro- manager.
