Mousa Dembele runs down the left, past N'Golo Kante this time and then across Nemanja Matic. He tries to play a pass into the run of Harry Kane but Thibaut Courtois is out fast to scoop it up.

It's a brilliant battle in the middle of the park. As good as it gets in the Premier League for me - all absolute beasts.

Spurs need to be careful here. There is already a pattern on the flanks with Walker v Hazard and Rose v Pedro where maybe they are getting caught too high up the pitch.

Brilliant from N'Golo Kante, that's why Chelsea signed him. Dele Alli spins Nemanja Matic and is in on the Chelsea back three with Harry Kane making a run.

Kante comes from the blind side and takes the ball from Alli in one swift, powerful movement. Superb.

The first sign of aggro as Cesar Azpilicueta shoves Jan Vertonghen to the deck after the Belgian tangled with Pedro. When these sides met at the end of last season there were fireworks.

Chance! A real chance too as Nemanja Matic lofts a clever pass over the Spurs defence, Eden Hazard is not flagged offside and he's in on goal.

He's wide on the left and the angle is tight, he opts to shoot first time and he tops it, just rolls the studs over the ball really and it scuffs wide of the post.

    A very good opening though.

Chelsea have dropped off a little bit deeper, they don't have any intention of pressing Spurs high up in their half.

That's what I expected, Spurs are very dangerous. They play quick and attacking football. Chelsea are just waiting for their opportunity.

Apparently Marcos Alonso is the first player in the history of English football to win his first 13 games for his club. How's that for a stat?

Jan Vertonghen is driving forwards, freed up by this change of system and he bursts into the Chelsea area before pulling a cross behind his team-mates in the middle.

Jan Vertonghen almost threads a pass through to Harry Kane but David Luiz and Gary Cahill sort it out. Spurs are indeed playing a back three with Eric Dier on the right, Vertonghen on the left and Toby Alderweireld in the centre.

Stephen James: Going for hard-fought 2-2 draw but with less yellow cards and eye gouging this time.

Temitayo Isewon: Spurs will control the first half but Chelsea will dominate the second half and beat them 2 goals to nil. Up Blues!

James Doggart: What a clash it's going to be tonight. Love that Chelsea haven't won at White Hart Lane since 2012 and won't win tonight.

A very warm exchange and embrace between Mauricio Pochettino and Antonio Conte as they meet in the technical area. Could be lively around there tonight.

You need as much rest as possible. I watched Spurs v Watford and they put it into second or third gear after half an hour. They were brilliant and managed their energy levels.

On nights like tonight it does go out the window a little bit. You could be in that changing room feeling shattered and then you step out and hear these fans and it all goes away for 90 minutes.

A lot of the time it is just talk - it is not an excuse on the day.

We mentioned that earlier Matt. Chelsea have not had to travel all Christmas and had more rest. Need to make it count now.

England manager Gareth Southgate and Brighton boss Chris Hughton take their seats, just down the row from David Pleat.

The players are lined up in the tunnel. All set?

Matt Rodway: Nobody mentioning CFC having 2 extra days to prepare than LFC. Short trip across London too not away to S'land.

Max Holloway: I can see the score outcome already, a boring 1-1 or maybe a 0-0 draw.

Gibby: Out of Chelsea's 13 wins, they've only had one difficult looking game - away at City, which they should really have lost. Let's see how they cope tonight and against the chasing pack of 5.

The atmosphere is building at White Hart Lane ahead of Spurs against Chelsea - and this famous stadium is now a combination of the club's present and future.

Tottenham's new 61,000-seater stadium is actually taking shape around the current stadium and will open at the start of the 2018-19 season.

Spurs have the chance to make a real statement of intent about their own title ambitions tonight - but a Chelsea win will extend their advantage to eight points and place their rivals in an even more difficult position.

Teez: Spurs looking extra-defensive. Don't think it's a good sign to drastically change what's been working.

Rawree19: Can't believe all this hype about Chelsea. After tonight they'll be so many making more people making kneejerk reactions.

Liam Evans: 13 games unbeaten or not I would still prefer Spurs' back 5 than Chelsea's.
