  2. Boxing Day's EFL actionpublished at 14:59 Greenwich Mean Time 26 December 2016

Well, that was quite some finale at Griffin Park!

Who's ready for our 30 EFL 15:00 GMT games, then?

Kick-off around the grounds is moments away, on this generally clear, crisp Boxing Day afternoon.

  3. FULL-TIME: Brentford 2-2 Cardiffpublished at 14:56 Greenwich Mean Time 26 December 2016

If that's any indication of the football we're in store for today, it's going to be a cracking afternoon.

Two goals from Sullay Kaikai rescue Brentford a point against Cardiff, who led twice through goals from Peter Whittingham and Kenneth Zohore. On balance, it's a fair result for both sides.

In League One, Simon Cox scored his second goal of the game late on to seal a 3-0 win over 10-man Wimbledon.

And Crawley pulled a second goal back at Leyton Orient in League Two, but they left themselves too much work to do after a poor first half and it finishes 3-2 to the hosts.

    Reading v Norwich (15:00 GMT)

    Alex NeilImage source, Rex Features

On a run of seven defeats in 10 league games, how badly could Alex Neil's Norwich City do with a result at high-flying Reading this afternoon?

The Canaries have failed to win in their past five league trips to the Madejski Stadium.

Meanwhile, Jaap Stam's side have won six of their past eight games and have not lost at home since October.

  5. goal

GOAL: Brentford 2-2 Cardiffpublished at 14:52 Greenwich Mean Time 26 December 2016

    Sullay Kaikai

    Spoke too soon.

It's an incredible finish to the game at Griffin Park, where Sullay Kaikai pulls Brentford level for the second time as he nods John Egan's cross into the Cardiff goal.

Is there another late twist left in this one?

  6. goal

GOAL: Brentford 1-2 Cardiffpublished at 14:50 Greenwich Mean Time 26 December 2016

    Kenneth Zohore

Surely the three points in the bag for Cardiff?

Kenneth Zohore is left with only Tom Field for company as he bears down on the Brentford goal, and the Bluebirds striker holds off his marker to drive into the box and fire past Dan Bentley.

  8. goal

GOAL: Brentford 1-1 Cardiffpublished at 14:44 Greenwich Mean Time 26 December 2016

    Sullay Kaikai

Brentford are rewarded for their sustained pressure with a wonderful goal from Sullay Kaikai.

The winger cuts inside from the left-hand flank and unleashes a thunderbolt of a shot past Brian Murphy.

Still five minutes plus stoppage time for either side to grab a late winner.

  9. The last line of defencepublished at 14:43 Greenwich Mean Time 26 December 2016

    Reading v Norwich (15:00 GMT)

    Ali Al-HabsiImage source, Rex Features

Ali Al-Habsi has made more saves than any other Championship goalkeeper this season, helping Reading to third in the table.

He's obviously been a busy man. Of the division's top 16 teams, only Barnsley (35) and today's opponents Norwich (34) have conceded more goals than Reading's 29.

  10. A meeting of the bottom twopublished at 14:40 Greenwich Mean Time 26 December 2016

    Rotherham v Wigan (15:00 GMT)

    Rotherham v WiganImage source, Rex

Rotherham have suffered 13 defeats in 15 games, while Wigan have lost four matches on the trot.

Can either of the Championship's bottom two find a much-needed win this afternoon to potentially kick-start their season?

    Brentford 0-1 Cardiff

Brentford v CardiffImage source, Rex Features

Cardiff are clinging on desperately to their one-goal lead at Brentford, with Brian Murphy pulling off another tremendous save to deny John Egan, before the referee waves away appeals for a penalty in the Cardiff box.

The hosts have thrown on former Germany under-21 international Philipp Hoffmann up front to try to salvage a point.

Meanwhile, a bad day for Wimbledon in League One has just got worse. Already trailing 2-0 at Southend, they've been reduced to ten men after Lyle Taylor was shown a second yellow card.

    Plymouth v Wycombe (15:00 GMT)

Gareth Ainsworth and Adebayo AkinfenwaImage source, Rex Features

No wonder Adebayo Akinfenwa is smiling with his manager Gareth Ainsworth.

The Wycombe boss has restored the big striker to Wanderers' starting line-up for today's League Two game at Plymouth.

    Brentford 0-1 Cardiff

    Peter WhittinghamImage source, Rex Features

It's an entertaining game at Griffin Park, but Peter Whittingham's first-half penalty for Cardiff is still the only goal.

Joe Bennett had a shot deflected wide for the visitors, while Brentford's Scott Hogan and Romaine Sawyers are causing a few problems up front at the other end. You'd be surprised if there aren't more goals to come in the last 25 minutes.

In League Two, Crawley have pulled a goal back at Leyton Orient, where Teddy Mezague turned in Lewis Young's cross under pressure inside his own box. It's 3-1 to the hosts at Brisbane Road.

  16. Team newspublished at 14:25 Greenwich Mean Time 26 December 2016

Ipswich v Fulham: Ipswich make one change to the side that beat Wigan, with Jonathan Douglas replacing the injured Jonny Williams; Fulham's on-loan striker Chris Martin is back in the Fulham team after being ineligible to face parent club Derby.

Preston v Leeds: Preston strikers Jermaine Beckford and Eoin Doyle return to the bench after serving bans for fighting each other, while Marnick Vermijl replaces Aiden McGeady in the starting line-up; Leeds have Chris Wood and Pablo Hernandez on the bench after injury, but defender Charlie Taylor is not in the squad because of an Achilles problem.

Reading v Norwich: Reading have midfielder John Swift back on the bench following injury, while Danny Williams plays from the start after serving a ban; Norwich recall both Alex Tettey and Steven Naismith to their starting line-up.

Bristol Rovers v Coventry City (15:00 GMT)

    Russell SladeImage source, Empics

This afternoon sees former Leyton Orient, Cardiff and Charlton boss Russell Slade take charge of his new side, Coventry City, for the first time as they visit Bristol Rovers.

The Sky Blues had been without a full-time boss since Tony Mowbray resigned on 29 September and have slipped to 23rd in League One.

Things have been tough off the field for the club in recent times and some supporters protested with a pitch invasion during 15 December's loss at home to Sheffield United.

But now Slade is in town, perhaps Coventry fans can look to the future now - it's only just begun!

    Brentford 0-1 Cardiff

Brilliant save by Brian Murphy, who gets down quickly to parry away Ryan Woods' shot and keep Cardiff a goal to the good at Brentford.

Murphy, signed by Cardiff in September, is making his debut for the Bluebirds today. That'll have given him some confidence.

  20. Team newspublished at 14:14 Greenwich Mean Time 26 December 2016

Aston Villa v Burton: Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce names the same XI that started the win at QPR; Burton bring in former Villa trainee Jamie Ward for Chris O’Grady.

Barnsley v Blackburn: Barnsley keep faith with the same starting XI that beat Cardiff last time out; two changes for Rovers as Ryan Nyambe and Charlie Mulgrew come in for the suspended Jason Lowe and injured Ben Marshall.

Huddersfield v Nottingham Forest: Three changes for Huddersfield as Joel Coleman on his debut, Tareiq Holmes-Dennis and Michael Hefele all start; Forest bring Jack Hobbs, David Vaughan and Hildeberto Pereira into their starting XI.
