  1. Goals galore in League Onepublished at 21:15 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2016

Millwall are now two goals to the good against Gillingham, Fred Onyedinma has doubled their lead.

And Gillingham are a man down after Paul Konchesky was sent off for a second yellow after fouling Onyedinma.

There's been a breakthrough in the game between Port Vale and Chesterfield...and it's gone to home side. Jerome Thomas with the goal which could push Port Vale further away from the drop zone.

And Swindon are not giving up without a fight, they've got back to 3-2 against MK Dons, Raphael Rossi Branco with the goal.

  2. Postpublished at 21:14 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2016

    ....and then there were two!

We started the night trying to bring you four Championship matches, we've had one postponed and now one abandoned.

Just over 20 minutes still to play at both St James' Park and Portman Road.

  3. MATCH ABANDONEDpublished at 21:13 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2016

    Reading 0-0 Fulham

Fair to say the decision to call the game off at Reading hasn't gone down well with fans and reporters alike....

  4. goal

GOAL (Gayle)published at 21:09 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2016

    Newcastle United 2-1 Nottingham Forest

Newcastle make their numerical advantage count within a matter of minutes.

It's goal number 18 of the season for Dwight Gayle.

But, they'll be an inquest in the Forest defence for that one as somehow Gayle was able to get on the end of it as Vladimir Stojkovic failed to come out and collect it form a deep cross.

  5. RED CARD (Mills)published at 21:06 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2016

    Newcastle United 1-1 Nottingham Forest

    Matt MillsImage source, Rex Features

Nottingham Forest have been keeping out a Newcastle side with a lot of firepower, but their task has just got that little harder with the loss of Matt Mills to a red card.

Defender Mills is shown a second yellow for dissent and is sent for an early bath.

St James' Park will be lifted by that.

  6. MATCH ABANDONEDpublished at 21:05 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2016

    Reading 0-0 Fulham

    Peculiar events in Berkshire...

I mentioned how much thick fog there was in the closing stages of that first half, but it appeared to have lifted during the interval.

Both sets of players made their way out of the tunnel before the decision to abandon the game was announced on the PA system.

  7. League One latestpublished at 21:04 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2016

    MK Dons 3-1 Swindon Town

But in League One, MK Dons have snuffed out Swindon's attempts to get back in the game.

Both sides looking for a win as they find themselves at the wrong end of the table, but Nicky Maynard has put MK Dons 3-1 ahead on the hour mark with his first of the season.

  8. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 21:04 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2016

    Ipswich Town 1-1 Bristol City

Almost a second Ipswich goal, but the woodwork saves Bristol City and the blushes of Marlon Pack who nearly directed a defensive header into his own net under pressure from Christophe Berra.

Hour mark reached at Portman Road.

  9. Postpublished at 21:02 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2016

    Ipswich Town 1-1 Bristol City

    Kevin BruImage source, Rex Features

Kevin Bru put Ipswich ahead earlier on his return to the side, but Mick McCarthy's side have undone their good work with a sloppy mistake to let Bristol City equalise.

Just a point between these two sides in the bottom third so victory tonight for either would be very much welcome.

    Stu Allen: Viva la Rafalution

    Chris Ward: Brighton so close

Rafael Benitez's Newcastle are on course for an instant return to the Premier League, while Brighton are currently top of the Championship, having missed out on automatic promotion on the final day last season and lost in the play-off semi-final.

  11. More-comeback?published at 21:00 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2016

In League Two, the Morecambe comeback could be on against Hartlepool.

Andrew Fleming has got an early second-half goal to reduce the deficit to 3-1. Plenty of time to find the rest.

  12. Postpublished at 21:00 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2016

    Newcastle United 1-1 Nottingham Forest

    Matt RitchieImage source, Rex Features

Newcastle force three early corners in the second half at St James Park, but their frustrations continue as they remain held at 1-1.

Forest might have to weather a bit of an onslaught from Rafa Benitez's side in this second half.

  13. In case you "mist" it....published at 20:57 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2016

    Brighton P-P Cardiff City

No action possible tonight in Sussex by the sea as the fog denied Brighton and Cardiff the chance to get a game on at the Amex Stadium.

The match was postponed shortly before 18:00 GMT.

  14. Weather report from League Twopublished at 20:55 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2016

Action has resumed in all games in League One but no early goals to bring you so far.

Yeovil are reporting that the fog is still the same in their game against Portsmouth at Huish Park, so we're not keeping our fingers crossed for any goals in that one!

  15. goal

GOAL (Abraham)published at 20:54 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2016

    Ipswich Town 1-1 Bristol City

Bristol City level inside seven second-half minutes at Portman Road.

Tammy Abraham pops up with a goal from close-range after Ipswich keeper Bartosz Bialkowski spills Luke Freeman's cross following a collision with his own team-mate Christophe Berra.

  16. KICK-OFFpublished at 20:52 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2016

    Newcastle United 1-1 Nottingham Forest

Action resumed at St James' Park as well.

No changes for either side. If it stays as it is, Newcastle will miss their chance to reclaim top spot in the Championship.

  18. KICK-OFFpublished at 20:50 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2016

    Ipswich Town 1-0 Bristol City

Back under way for the second half at Portman Road.

Bristol City make a double change as Taylor Moore and Joe Bryan replace Mark Little and Scott Golbourne as Lee Johnson searches for an equaliser.

  19. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:50 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2016

    Reading 0-0 Fulham

We've made it to the break at the Madejski Stadium, which looked unlikely 10 minutes ago with the thickening fog.

Callum Harriott unleashes a shot from outside the box for the hosts in time added on and David Button once again is on hand to tip it behind the Fulham goal.
