    Brentford 0-0 Norwich

This is one of those games where you do think there will be a goal in it, but Cameron Jerome has just missed the best chance of the match so far.

Norwich full-back Ivo Pinto makes a great break down the right and pulls the ball back to Jerome, who from 12 yards hits it over the bar under no pressure.

    What a miss.

    Brentford 0-0 Norwich

Kaikai's free-kick into the area is deep, headed back across goal by John Egan, but no Brentford head can get a clear effort on goal and it goes over.

Then immediately after, Cameron Jerome goes down the other end but fires wide when free in the area from a tight angle

Alex Tettey gives away a free-kick in a dangerous position for a foul on Sullay Kaikai, but the Norwich man comes off worst, needing treatment to his ankle area from the physio.

Woods looks OK to continue, although he is moving rather gingerly.

Brentford's Ryan Woods is currently down receiving treatment after colliding with team-mate Andreas Bjelland and we've got a break in play.

    Brentford 0-0 Norwich

Norwich don't draw many matches. They've only done it three times all season in the league, with the most recent coming on 18 October against Fulham.

The way it's going, that record could be about to change.

Nelson Oliveira has a crack from long-range, but it's wide of the target.

    Brentford 0-0 Norwich

Brentford win a corner on the right-hand side, and it's played short to Sullay Kaikai, whose pace gets him away from two defenders to run to the byline, but his cross is tipped away by Norwich keeper John Ruddy.

    Brentford 0-0 Norwich

Excellent work from Brentford's Scott Hogan tees up his strike partner Sullay Kaikai, but Norwich defenders thrust their bodies in front of the Bees man's shot to deflect it wide for a corner, which comes to nothing.

Brentford are still yet to have a shot on target in the entire match.

This is the type of game for a true, die-hard fan.

At the other end, Norwich striker Nelson Oliveira sees a shot blocked before Robbie Brady's run into the box is halted by two defenders.

    Brentford 0-0 Norwich

One positive for Norwich recently has been the form of Nelson Oliveira.

He wins a free-kick on the right-hand side of the box, but Robbie Brady's delivery is cleared by Brentford.

Again, early on in this second half it just seems as if both teams get to the final third of the pitch and then don't know what to do with the ball.

    Both have been wasteful.

We're off again at Griffin Park. Let's hope for some early New Year's fireworks to round of the EFL action today.

I'm sorry for that dreadful pun...

    Reaction: Wolves 1-2 QPR

Pawel Wszolek's 87th-minute strike ended a run of six straight losses for QPR.

    QPR boss Ian Holloway:

"It was probably the worst that we played but the best heart that we showed.

"In the last couple of games we have played some wonderful football and got nothing. Well today the boys earned that against the run of play and we have come here and stolen those points but that is what you have to do in football sometimes.

"We had more efforts on goal and Pawel deserved that as he chases and chases and sometimes the harder you work the luckier you get."

Ben Poch: Can't remember the last time I wanted Norwich to lose so badly. A win today only delays what is needed. Alex Neil needs to go.

Tell us how you really feel, Ben...

  15. 'We won't dwell on it'published at 18:26 Greenwich Mean Time 31 December 2016

    Reaction: Preston 1-1 Sheffield Wednesday

Preston manager Simon Grayson on his side conceding a stoppage-time equaliser:

"We won't dwell on it. We are very proud of how we played. We cut them open many a time and got into some good areas.

"You need that second goal sometimes and we didn't get that.

"There were some good individual performances today and that bodes very well for the future."

Adam Reach's goal in the fourth minute of stoppage time earned Sheffield Wednesday a draw at Preston.

Sam Hutchinson had put through his own net to give Preston the lead in a scrappy game at Deepdale.

    Owls boss Carlos Carvalhal:

"This kind of thing happens in the Championship, so it's important to stay together like a team until the end and believe that we can achieve the minimum of one point.

"Getting the point in the last minute is something we have done before. We still believe until the last second that we can achieve points.

"At the end we had the luck that in some games we didn't have in some other games. This is football."

  17. 'It's very encouraging'published at 18:19 Greenwich Mean Time 31 December 2016

Birmingham came from two goals behind to earn a point at 10-man Barnsley. It ended a run of two losses for Gianfranco Zola since he took over from Gary Rowett earlier this month.

Zola said he saw signs of improvement:

"It's important that we are off the block and you can see that things are getting better.

"It is what I was looking for after the first half. Sometimes it's about wanting to change things and it's very encouraging for me.

"It was a penalty and the red card (for Marc Roberts) was correct. I was very pleased with Che (Adams). He created a lot of situations and he played very well. His play was game-changing.

"We knew as soon as we came here that he was a player of potential. He's very important to us."

While you digest that half of football in which both shots on target came from Norwich, here's some reaction from today's earlier Championship matches.

  19. HALF-TIMEpublished at 18:17 Greenwich Mean Time 31 December 2016
