    Middlesbrough 3-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Middlesbrough, eventually, ease into the fourth round with a comfortable win over Championship side Sheffield Wednesday, despite going down to 10 men.

Goals from Grant Leadbitter, Alvaro Negredo and Marten de Roon do the trick for Aitor Karanka's side.

    Chelsea 4-1 Peterborough

Routine win for the Premier League leaders. League One visitors Peterborough put up a fight, but the home side had too much power and guile.

Antonio Conte goes all front man of a rock band, tapping hands with his adoring fans as he leaves the stage.

  3. 'Using energy in the wrong areas'published at 16:51 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2017

    Tottenham 0-0 Aston Villa

    Dion Dublin
Former Leicester and Man Utd forward on BBC One

I don't think it would have been 0-0 if Dele Alli, Harry Kane or Mousa Dembele were playing. Spurs would have picked up the tempo.

Tottenham striker Vincent Janssen is using all his energy in the wrong areas. He has to stay in the middle of the pitch and get others to serve him the ball.

  4. goal

GOAL - Middlesbrough 3-0 Sheffield Wednesdaypublished at 16:51 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2017

    Marten de Roon

Job done. Cristhian Stuani does the dirty work forcing a save out of Joe Wildsmith, Marten de Roon popping up to snaffle the leftovers.

Boro are in the hat for round four.

  5. 'It's been terrible'published at 16:51 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2017

    Tottenham 0-0 Aston Villa

    Alan Shearer
    Ex-England captain on BBC One

It's been terrible. We can't get away from that. Aston Villa have frustrated Tottenham but Spurs haven't helped themselves. They've been slow in possession.

I was expecting to see a rampant Spurs side after their win over Chelsea but that has been halted.

    Chelsea 4-1 Peterborough

"We want five!" Chelsea are still piling forward in stoppage time,Pedro leading the charge. He dillies, he dallies, he misses his chance to chance. Instead he tees up Michy Batshuayi, who shoots straight at the Posh keeper's legs.

And Pedro is not finished yet. He wants the matchball. The Chelsea flyer cuts in from the left flank, whipping a vicious shot inches past the far post.

  10. 'Spurs have to break Villa down'published at 16:47 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2017

    Tottenham 0-0 Aston Villa

    Jermaine Jenas
Former England midfielder on BBC One

It's on Spurs to break them down, Villa have got their shape and they want set-pieces at the other end. Spurs have been too ponderous and they have not shown enough movement.

  11. HALF-TIMEpublished at 16:46 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2017

    Tottenham 0-0 Aston Villa

Mike Dean has had a quiet game so far. Just what we want.

He's seen enough, tooting his whistle as soon as the clock ticks past 45. Time for a cuppa.

    Not a classic.

  12. CLOSE!published at 16:44 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2017

    Tottenham 0-0 Aston Villa

The closest either side have come. Spurs play a one-two on the edge of the area, Son Heung-min is tackled by Jordan Amavi and the Villa left-back has an anxious moment as his challenge ends up spinning over the keeper and narrowly wide. Almost an own goal.

  13. Postpublished at 16:43 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2017

    Chelsea 4-1 Peterborough

Posh striker Lee Angol rubs his face like he's having a morning wash. Why? Because he's annoyed with himself for blazing a good chance over the Chelsea bar.

Still plugging away are the visitors. Chelsea are five minutes away from the fourth-round pot.

  14. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 16:42 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2017

    Middlesbrough 2-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Cristhian Stuani beats Sheffield Wednesday keeper Joe Wildsmith to an in-swinging cross in to poke in on the volley from close range.

Game over? No, the Middlesbrough forward is offside and it remains 2-0 to 10-man Boro.

  15. Watch again: Negredo pounces to double Boro's leadpublished at 16:41 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2017

Not one that Wednesday keeper Joe Wildsmith wants to see again. You DEFINITELY want to see it...

Mauricio Pochettino, mouth covered by warm snood, looks like he fancies a Sunday afternoon nap. If this carries on he might well drop off. His much-changed side have offered nothing going forward. On-loan Villa keeper Sam Johnstone sticks his gloves on the ball as he scoops up Vincent Janssen's weak cross. Easy peasy.

  17. Watch again: John Terry is sent offpublished at 16:38 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2017

One that non-Chelsea fans up and down the country will probably take great pleasure in watching. John Terry seeing red for the sort of challenge the Dog and Duck centre-half made on Hackney Marshes this morning. Enjoy.

  18. 'Villa have a back six'published at 16:36 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2017

    Tottenham 0-0 Aston Villa

    Danny Murphy
Former England midfielder on BBC One

Villa end up with a back six when Spurs have the ball, it's quite negative. I thought they would have more of a go and maybe they will as the game goes on, we shall see.

  19. Postpublished at 16:36 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2017

    Chelsea 4-1 Peterborough

I really need to mention Antonio Conte's attire today. White tracky top, royal blue baseball cap. I think he looks like he's playing the back nine at a wet'n'wild Birkdale. Someone on Twitter reckons he is modelling himself on Tony Pulis.

  20. Watch again: Ayala sent off for Boropublished at 16:32 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2017

Correct decision? Not too much intention of playing the ball there from Daniel Ayala.
