Hull excelled at the start of the season but the bottom three is where I expect them to be at the end of the season unless they spend a great deal in January.

  4. In the bleak mid-winterpublished at 14:27 Greenwich Mean Time 17 December 2016

    Sunderland v Watford (15:00 GMT)

It was a looking a bit more rosy for strugglers Sunderland in November. Three wins out of four games took them up to the dizzy heights of 18th place...but it didn't last long.

They've returned to the bottom of the pile and could be in the bottom two at Christmas for the third time in four seasons.

Watford sit comfortably in mid-table but, like Sunderland, have lost three of their last four league matches - conceding eight goals in the process.

David Moyes wanted more money in the last window and it looks like the money won't be there again in January, and it looks like the owner Ellis Short wants to sell.

There are a lot of difficulties for Moyes. He needed to get back in the game but the task is huge. I firmly believe he is the right man and can keep them up.

  6. A card for Bradley's fightpublished at 14:21 Greenwich Mean Time 17 December 2016

    Sunderland v Watford (15:00 GMT)

A lovely gesture from Watford, via captain Troy Deeney, as he presents Sunderland captain Jermain Defoe with a Christmas card for Black Cats fan Bradley Lowery, who has touched many hearts in football in the last week.

You can read more about Bradley's story here.

West Ham's move has not been plain sailing for fans, manager, players and board alike but they need to start winning games fast if they are to prevent a slide into real relegation trouble.

Hull would move to within a point of the Hammers with an away win this afternoon - though admittedly the Tigers are on a run of six successive away defeats in the Premier League -and they have failed to score in the last four of these.

  13. Can the Foxes win away?published at 14:12 Greenwich Mean Time 17 December 2016

    Stoke v Leicester (15:00 GMT)

    Leicester goalImage source, Getty Images

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Leicester will not retain their title this season. Bold, I know.

Leicester's return of one point from their first eight away games of the season is the lowest total by a defending top-flight champion, but there is perhaps an omen for good times at the Bet365 this afternoon.

Leicester have only conceded three goals in their last five league meetings with Stoke. Could be tight today?

    Middlesbrough v Swansea (15:00 GMT)

You have to cast your mind back to May 1982 for the last time Middlesbrough and Swansea played each other in the top flight.

Apparently, singer 'Nicole' was number one with her German Eurovision entry 'A Little Peace'. See below. Nope, no idea either.

    What's one-hit wonder in German?

Anyway...Boro, who are 17th, have lost back-to-back matches coming into today's fixture and have failed to score in three of their last five.

Swansea are one place below them with a heady mix of two wins and two defeats in their last four.

It looks like both of sides could do with the three points today so they can enjoy 'a little peace' over Christmas (sorry).

It may be too early for talk of 'six-pointers' just yet, but David Moyes, Aitor Karanka, Bob Bradley, Slaven Bilic and Mike Phelan will all sleep easier tonight with three points in the bank.
