  2. Clement's scouting missionpublished at 11:40 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January 2017

Swansea City v Arsenal (15:00 GMT)

What a day it could be for Paul Clement. His first home match in charge of a Premier League club comes today, and what a way to start, against Arsene Wenger's Arsenal.

Clement is prepared though. In his previous job as the assistant manager at Bayern Munich, he went on a scouting mission as the German side are set to take on the Gunners in the Champions League next month.

"It's exciting to be against a coach of that calibre and experience, it's brilliant," said Clement. "He's been at Arsenal more than 20 years and I didn't know anything about football then - I was a secondary school teacher working part-time in Chelsea's centre of excellence.

"I saw Arsenal play West Brom so I've got my notes, it's just I'll be using them for Swansea instead of Bayern now. The notes are the same. I'll send Carlo Ancelotti a photocopy."

    Costa to China?

Cat meet pigeons. A seemingly settled Chelsea disrupted by dropping Diego Costa, reportedly targeted by a Chinese club for silly money. Must be said, most of you think he should take the money and run. Disagree? Let us know by texting 81111 or tweeting #bbcfootball.

Stephen Kennedy: Why get angry that another country offers footballers more money than we can. Isn't that what England clubs did for years?

David Ekeleme: Expect to see the animal in Costa once again.Going to be disaster trying to keep him. Cash in and invest in another top striker.

Jay: The hype in England around big money moves to China is ironic and hilarious. This is prob how others saw England these last few years.

Jermain Defoe is expected to start up front for Sunderland today after West Ham failed with a £6m attempt to re-sign him.

And here's a few of the reasons why the relegation-battling Black Cats need the 34-year-old striker and his goals...

    • 58% of their Premier League goals this season
    • 6 points won by his goals
    • £41m risk if they sell him

Here's the statistical proof of how important Jermain Defoe is to Sunderland's survival hopes.

This one isn't going to end 0-0, surely? Sunderland and Stoke meet today with both sides leakier than your dodgy bathroom tap.

Third-bottom Sunderland have conceded 37 goals in the Premier League - the third highest tally in the Premier League - with Stoke not far behind on 32.

"Sunderland have struggled defensively and we have threats that can hurt them," says Stoke manager Mark Hughes.

"We need to be solid though because we have been a little slow in our defensive work, in terms of defending from the front. It is right across the board where we need to improve, not just the back line.

"If we can be solid then we know we have quality players who can cause problems at the top end of the field."

    Costa to China?

It all seemed so easy for Chelsea not so long ago. Now Diego Costa threatens to unravel the leaders' season - dropped for the visit to Leicester today and reportedly having his head turned by a big-money move to China. Will he? Won't he? Should he? Shouldn't he?

Let us know - text 81111 or tweet us using #bbcfootball

Joe Hedges: Chelsea were one of the first clubs to pay mega money for players, they created it so can't complain now!

Heb Franca: Sorry but if someone offered me four times my salary to go China I would. £600k per week after tax CANNOT be turned down.

Jon Hind: If a company offered to double or treble your wage you'd be gone in a flash. Footballers are just the same.

John Terry going to...Bournemouth? Surely not. Well, no-one expected Jack Wilshere to end up there.

The Cherries have been linked with move for the Chelsea captain, external, who has not been a regular for Antonio Conte's Premier League leaders this season, but Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has played down the speculation.

"There have been no negotiations with Chelsea at all," says Howe. "I admire John Terry greatly as a footballer. He was one of my favourite central defenders.

"When I looked at people when I was playing to try and emulate and get close to, he was one that I followed, but there has been no discussions and no meeting, nothing."

    Costa to China?

Should he stay or should he go? Diego Costa has clashed with a Chelsea coach and been dropped for today's game at Leicester. There are also reports of a huge offer from China to tempt the striker away. Will Costa be moving east?

Paul Price: The world's gone mad! Brain surgeons don't make this kind of money! Sad state of affairs the modern world we live in.

Hamilton Andre: Money runs at speed of thought, just need the correct number and thought of leaving is triggered.

  16. Puel calls for calm heads after win over Liverpoolpublished at 11:04 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January 2017

    Burnley v Southampton (15:00 GMT)

Southampton are only 90 minutes from the EFL Cup final after a deserved 1-0 win in the first leg of the semi-final against Liverpool on Wednesday.

But Claude Puel wants his players to focus on the job in hand - their away day at Burnley.

He says: "It is important to have the ability to pass through all these games and have the recovery, you have to also keep the analysis without euphoria.

"It is not just the physical work, it is always a good recovery with the head, without losing energy out of the games. It is difficult to play away to Burnley, a strong and physical team. It will be a different game to the one against Liverpool."

The Saints remain without club captain Jose Fonte, who is not available for selection after handing in a transfer request.

    Burnley v Southampton (15:00 GMT)

It has been a good week off the field for Burnley, with the latest financial figures showing that they were among the 10 most profitable clubs in Europe for 2015.

The Clarets had an operating profit of 54 million euros and a net profit figure of 40 million euros, according to a Uefa report. That second figure, the fifth highest in Europe, was more than Bayern Munich, Porto and Ajax so will it lead to Sean Dyche going crazy in the transfer window?

Maybe not, as Dyche, whose side are now 12th in the Premier League, is still keen to keep balancing the books.

He says: "If you look at the expense needed to keep a successful team going and look at the way this club is run, it can deal with year two, three and four out of the Premier League.

"There are a number of clubs in the Premier League, who have only been in there for a couple of seasons, who have massive debts. We haven't got that."
