Leicester City

Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri will be a little more light-hearted during his new year celebrations after today's three points.

“I am very proud because we made a clean sheet - finally,” he said.

“Today’s result is very good for everybody here in Leicester, and of course it is very good for the team. We made a very good performance for the team, they had a few good chances, but we closed the space very well.

“We needed the crowd’s support today, and when I called them they were together with us. The support of our fans is very important.”

Southampton

Southampton manager Claude Puel: "It's difficult for myself because in these last two games you have the same scenario.

"We started well with possession and quality and then the first chance for the opponent they score. It's a difficult moment for the squad. We have to concentrate more in defence."

Bournemouth

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe is understandably delighted with his side's confident performance at Swansea:

"It’s been a good day, I thought we were excellent from start to finish, we controlled the game and took the chances when we got them.

"We scored at key times, the goal before half-time was a massive one for us. The quality of that one was the pleasing thing, with what the players did around the box. It was a tough game, and the players stood up to that challenge.

"We have no chance to enjoy it, it’s straight on to Arsenal and we hope to do well against them."

Manchester United

Manchester United's late comeback drew comparisons to the Sir Alex Ferguson days at Old Trafford - the legendary manager turned 75 today.

Boss Jose Mourinho told BBC Sport: "I’m happy for him – I congratulated him already. I joked 'happy 45th birthday'.

"He's enjoying his life and I'm happy we gave him happiness today and that people remember his time with the way we played in the last minutes."

In his interview with Sky Sports, Mourinho jokes that the result would have been 3-1 under Sir Alex - perhaps suggesting that Zlatan Ibrahimovic's goal would not have been disallowed in the Ferguson era.

Cheeky little Stoke/Peter Crouch stat for you.

The Potters had gone a whopping 56 Premier League games without an English goalscorer until Crouchy netted today.

Crouch was the last Englishman to score in the league for Stoke - an 86th-minute goal in a 6-1 thumping of Liverpool on 24 May 2015.

Stoke City

Stoke City striker Peter Crouch: "In the first half we gave a good account of ourselves, but a few errors have cost us.

"Chelsea are fantastic. They look strong in all areas. Having said that, we were in the game and are disappointed not to come away with anything.

"We always felt we were a threat going forward and thought we could get more goals.

"Our season won't be defined by Liverpool or Chelsea away, the next game, Watford at home, is very important for us."

West Bromwich Albion

West Brom manager Tony Pulis: "In the first half we were shocking really, way off the pace of the game. But in the second half we got going and we played with a lot more purpose.

"The first half, I don't know if it was the fact we had a fligth cancelled last night and had to come on the bus. Maybe it was still in their legs I don't know.

"Robson-Kanu has been very good at the club. When he's come on he's been excellent. We felt it was the right time to give Salomon Rondon a rest, he was a little bit down in training this week. Now I have a problem Monday, who do I pick?

Will he bring players in during the January window? "I hope so. But they have to improve the first XI and that's not easy."

Swansea City

Swansea caretaker boss Alan Curtis can find little cheer from his side's defeat at home today:

"It just drained the confidence out of us, as soon as that first goal went in we found it very difficult to recover. At 1-0 we could have regrouped a bit, but Bournemouth were excellent and deserved it. We showed a little character in the second half, bit it was not enough.

"A new manager is needed imminently, we need fresh eyes to look at it. I will speak to the chairman hopefully later today, the window opens tomorrow and it is evident we need one or two new ones in."

Burnley

Burnley's hat-trick hero Andre Gray: "It's been a massive week, two big wins against the teams around us. 

"I thought we played well until we got the first goal, and then we stepped it up in the second half. We knew we could hurt them. 

"It's massive for me to score a hat-trick - four years ago I never thought I'd be playing in the Premier League, never mind scoring three in one game. I have had to work hard, do the right things and hope that it'll pay off. Today, obviously it has. 

"I knew these goals were coming - I’ve always had that belief and just needed that little bit of luck.

"Ashley Barnes was massive for me today, and we know what we're doing as two up front. We managed to isolate the back two of Sunderland and have some success. 

"We are only halfway through the season though - a lot can change. We need to dig in and stay up."

Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka tells BBC Sport: "When you lose it is difficult. We have to take the good things.

"When you come here and play against Man United and you are winning 1-0, every team has to play at their best to beat us.

"I thought we could at least have a point. The performance from everybody was amazing. We couldn’t do any more and showed we can compete against every team. I’ve told the players to recover and know we are a good team."

On his friendship with United boss Jose Mourinho: "It was difficult for both of us because we have an amazing relationship. We both wanted to win.

"I hope they are at the top of the table at the end of the season and we stay in the league."

Sunderland

A disgruntled David Moyes, Sunderland boss: "We were dire today, really really bad. It was a poor performance, and defensively especially we were all over the place. You have to do the old-fashioned defensive things well and we didn't. 

"My players were well-briefed on the opposition and you just have to hope they take that into the game. We made the same mistakes time and time again; missed headers, missed bouncing balls, the same stuff. 

"The players have to take responsibility as well as me, and that was dire, as bad as anything I have been involved in here. I can’t walk into the dressing room and say "Yeah, that was great lads." It wasn't. 

"We have to stick in together, but today defensively we were poor. We threatened at times going forward but we couldn't defend. 

"You can ask me questions about myself and my future, that's fine. We're in the bottom three, I know that."

Manchester United

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho, speaking to BBC Sport, talks about his friendship with Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka.

"It’s a very good feeling, as I was expecting I don’t feel the same happiness because my brother is on the other side.

"Aitor Karanka did his job amazing away but my brother is sad so I'm sad.

"My players were phenomenal. We managed to do something I love – bring the fans to the pitch. The last 15 mins were 70,000 on the pitch against 11."

On why Zlatan Ibrahimovic's goal was disallowed: "(Referee) Mr Mason is the one that knows that but he knows he made a mistake. I think it's sad because referees are sad when they make mistakes."

Chelsea

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte told BBC Sport: "Congratulations go to my players. To win 13 games in a row in this league is very difficult.

"Stoke played very well. They hit long balls to Crouch and fought for the second ball. My players showed they can adapt to the different kinds of game we face. They showed great commitment, work-rate and will to win. I'm delighted for them.

"Now, it's important to celebrate the arrival of the new year, then to think of the next game against Tottenham.

"Numbers are not important if you do not win the title. Now, they are fantastic and we are proud, but we must concentrate on the second part of the season."

West Ham United

West Ham manager Slaven Bilic says his side are "down and disappointed" after today's loss, but is happy with their performance.

"Very, very frustrating to lose the game like this," he said.

"They started better and deserved to score but after that we were really good. We were just missing that final touch. 

"We gave everything so it is a shame and a frustration, but we played good today."

Kieran Bryant: All it will take is one loss for Chelsea to come unstuck and Liverpool will win the league, and Arsenal to win the Champions League and Plymouth Argyle to win the FA Cup! Also Southampton to get relegated.

Burnley

Burnley boss Sean Dyche, happy with a big win: "This has been a good week for sure, the end of a good calendar year for us at Burnley. 

"Andre Gray got his hat-trick today, great for both himself and the team. 

"We'd like to think we are a persistent team, though the Premier League is a tough division and whoever you play won’t make it easy. But we have to do what we can, be effective, and I think we were today."

Stoke City

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes told BBC Sport: "It's a similar story to our efforts at Liverpool. We got back level, but then conceded poor goals. We've made mistakes and good teams punish you.

"I thought we did really well, showing courage to get back in the game. I thought we were good value to get a draw, but we can't keep on making the mistakes we are at the moment because it's hurting us.

"We were positive, got back level and it was up for grabs. For their third goal, the ball went through about four of our players. We can't keep defending as we are in key moments. If we take that out of our game, we will be fine.

"Mistakes happen, the opposition can affect what you do. You have to understand the time, the moments of the game."
