Bayern Munich v Arsenal (19:45 GMT)

Bayern make two changes to the side that beat Ingolstadt 2-0 on Saturday. Thomas Muller and Joshua Kimmich drop out with Douglas Costa and Arjen Robben coming in to the starting XI. Midfielder Xabi Alonso missed training on Monday with a knee injury but is fit to start.

As expected, Davis Ospina is in net for Arsenal in place of Petr Cech. Mesut Ozil starts despite talk he would be dropped. The only change from the outfield 10 that started the 2-0 home win over Hull sees Granit Xhaka come in for Theo Walcott.

Bayern Munich XI: Neuer, Lahm, Hummels, Martínez, Alaba, Xabi Alonso, Vidal, Robben, Thiago, Costa, Lewandowski.

Arsenal XI: Ospina, Bellerin, Mustafi, Koscielny, Gibbs, Xhaka, Coquelin, Iwobi, Ozil, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Sanchez.

Right then, enough chit chat for now, what about team news? We know David Ospina will start in the Arsenal goal, but what about the rest of the line-up? Mesut Ozil to start?

What chance of Real Madrid suffering a similar fate to Barcelona?

Well they are the home side, so probably not much, but Napoli are in excellent form at the moment.

The Italians have not lost a game since 29 October and have won 11 of their previous 13 games in all competitions.

Arsenal to win 5-1 tonight? Stranger things have happened. Like, for instance, Barcelona getting absolutely walloped by Paris St-Germain last night.

Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar all had off days as Barca were beaten 4-0.

Who saw that coming? Well Spanish football expert Andy West did and he claims their season has regularly threatened to fall apart at the seams.

They’ve got such incredible talent in this competition. They have got the better players, but maybe it would inspire the Arsenal players if they were to hear that Arsene Wenger was coming to the end.

Maybe there’s pressure and they’d start to play for the manager a little bit more. I’m not questioning  that, whether they play for the manager. He’s a great man to work with, but  it might dig out a little bit of inspiration from the players and Arsenal are going to need that to go through.

I've never been to the Allianz Arena. Would love to go sometime.

Arsenal fans must be sick of the sight of it, especially after their last visit. That was in November 2015 when Bayern Munich thumped the Gunners 5-1.

Consequently, just ensuring they are still in the tie for the return leg in London next month would be a big result for Arsene Wenger's side.

That's easier said than done against a team that has won 10 of their previous 11 games.

  8. Groundhog Day for Arsenalpublished at 18:27 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2017

Three things are certain in life:

    • Death.
    • Taxes.
    • Arsenal playing Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

The two sides meet in the competition for the fourth time in the last five years, with Arsenal bidding to achieve something they haven't done before - knock Bayern out and reach the quarter-finals.
