Heung-Min Son is on for Tottenham. He replaced Ben Davies just before the Wanyama goal. His low cross from the right is out behind for a Spurs corner.

The delivery almost brings the home side another goal as a gent defender nearly heads the ball into his own net.

Soon after, Kyle Walker charges down the right yet again but fires his effort into the side-netting. It is Tottenham's 20th attempt at goal.

Eriksen is away... but he doesn't have the pace to get away from the last defender. The tackle comes in and fells the Dane in the box, prompting calls for a penalty, but the ref isn't interested.

    Ranieri sacked by Leicester

    On BBC Radio 5 live

The owners have their eye on staying up. The chairman was at the Swansea game shaking his head a couple of weeks ago, making it quite clear how he felt. It was only a fortnight ago they promised unwavering support.

I remember the Thai owners at the Everton game when Leicester got the trophy, the players couldn't get the trophy out of their hands. They loved dining at the top table and that's what they are worried about.

Has he lost the dressing room? Probably. They are clearly in trouble, sinking like a stone. But my word, they have showed a cruelty in this decision. Ranieri deserved everything, it sums up modern football.

  5. YELLOW CARDpublished at 65 mins

    Tottenham 2-1 Gent (agg 2-2)

Jan Vertonghen is booked for protesting after he is fouled. He felt the man that dragged him to the floor should have been yellow carded. There is a lot of passion out there now.

    Victor Wanyama

Game on! There is life in Tottenham yet! Kyle Walker looks to exchange passes on the edge of the box with Christian Eriksen but it is Victor Wanyama who latches on to the ball and fires in a superb shot.

It is the midfielder's first goal in Europe for Spurs. He has timed that very, very well.

Spurs need one more goal and they have control of this tie.

Chance! Missed! Harry Kane is released in the box by Eriksen. The striker has just the keeper to beat but drags his shot a yard past the far post. That could be a key moment in this game.

  9. 'Not inexplicable'published at 21:19 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2017

    Ranieri sacked by Leicester

    BBC Radio 5 live

James Ducker of the Telegraph on BBC Radio 5 live: "I think the statement said a lot. It's clearly been a pain-staking decision. They have probably made it with a heavy heart. It is about as an emotional statement as I can remember in the Premier League.

"It's 'gut wrenching' as Gary Lineker said but in my view not inexplicable."

It is wave after wave of Tottenham attacks now. They are making light of their one-man disadvantage.

Dejaegere is limping off. He hasn't recovered from the Alli lunge that saw the England player sent off. On comes Louis Verstraete.

Matthew Birch: From everyone's second favourite club to everyone's least favourite. So sad for CR but no one will ever forget what he achieved.

Ian Gilbert: Why don't the players get sacked when they don't perform? They seem untouchable and can down tools when they feel like it.

Geoff Ramm: Hang your heads in shame Leicester City he should have a statue not a P45.

    Ranieri sacked by Leicester

The BT Sport pundits have their say on Claudio Ranieri's sacking:

Jermaine Jenas : "I think it's a joke. In the second half against Sevilla they were back to their best."

Glenn Hoddle: "Very surprised, shocked. I dont know who they will bring in. What he's done is incredible."

Harry Redknapp: "I wasn't that surprised. Disappointed. He has done an amazing job. When teams are down there now, with what's at stake, owners do make those changes and panic. I'm sad to see it. He can walk away and hold his head high, incredible."
