There is an awful lot of talk currently flying around social media that Claudio Ranieri has been sacked by Leicester, nine months after delivering them the most remarkable title win in living memory.

    We await confirmation.

Tottenham and Gent, prepare to take a back seat!

We asked you who is the best player your club has ever produced?

John William Bills: As a begrudging Blackburn fan our greatest youth product was David Dunn. Loved by Rovers fans, underrated by the rest.

Nick Tubb: Le Tissier? Shearer? Bale?

Gent have played one game in England prior to tonight. It was also in London. Against West Ham in the Cup Winners' Cup in 1964.

In that tie, West Ham won the first leg in Belgium 1-0 thanks to a Ronnie Boyce goal. The second leg at Upton Park ended 1-1. Johnny Byrne equalised for the Hammers following a Martin Peters own goal.

  6. A proper Wembley tune?published at 19:50 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2017

    Tottenham v Gent (20:05 GMT)

"Wembley, Wembley, it's another Europa League game so we're off to Wembley..."

I'm not sure about you, but it doesn't have the same ring to it as your typical Wembley chant.

Still, this lot seem happy to be there. A potentially dramatic night in store.

This may concern Spurs. Gent have lost only one of their five away games in Europe this season - a 5-0 defeat at Shakhtar Donetsk in the group stage of this competition.

They have won two and drawn two of the remaining four.

However, they haven't won any of their last six away games in the league, including last Sunday's 1-1 draw at Standard Liege.

If Tottenham do the job tonight they will be joining Premier League colleagues Manchester United in the last 16.

United eased through their last-32 tie with a 1-0 second-leg victory at Saint-Etienne, giving them a 4-0 aggregate win overall.

However, their goalscorer on Wednesday, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, could be out of Sunday's EFL Cup final after limping off.

Tottenham will be without left-back Danny Rose and midfielder Erik Lamela for tonight's game.

In fairness, there is nothing new in this. Rose has missed four matches after injuring his knee in January's  0-0 draw with Sunderland , while Lamela has been absent since October with a hip injury.

"Danny continues to recover and rehabilitate, but remains a number of weeks away from full training," said manager Mauricio Pochettino.

"Erik is making progress and is now working on the field. No date is yet confirmed for a return to full training and his recovery continues to be monitored."

Since that defeat in Belgium, Tottenham have produced a clinical display in a cup tie, with their 3-0 win at Fulham.  Sure, it was only against a Championship club, but anyone who has seen Fulham play this season will attest to a very useful side who could well be in the Premier League next season if they continue their current form.

Spurs, and Harry Kane in particular, were clinical at the Cottage, scoring three unanswered goals and rarely looking in trouble.

"You see that lads," says Mauricio Pochettino. "Do that again." It's easy this football managing lark.

It is a tricky one for Tottenham, this. It is, of course, better to lose 2-1 than 1-0 in an away first leg. But having failed to bag in Belgium, they can't sneak this on away goals. And if Gent get a goal themselves it throws a great, big tiger into the pigeon coop.

And Spurs lost two of their three home games in the Champions League and didn't keep a clean sheet in any of them.

Two defeats by Monaco and a home loss against Bayer Leverkusen meant Tottenham finished third in their Champions League group, leaving with the consolation prize of the Europa League.

They didn't get off to the best of starts in that as Jeremy Perbet's goal gave Gent a surprise victory in their last-32 first-leg meeting a week ago.

And so we are back at Wembley - Tottenham's European home - to see if they can overturn the deficit and make the last 16.

  18. Team newspublished at 19:06 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2017

    Tottenham v Gent (20:05 GMT)

No messing about from Mauricio Pochettino. The Spurs manager plays a full-strength side as keeper Hugo Lloris, right-back Kyle Walker, centre-back/midfielder Eric Dier and midfielder Mousa Dembele return.

What formation they will line up in is anyone's guess. I blame Pep Guardiola.

A lack of width in the attacking areas suggests Walker and Ben Davies may play further forward, with Eric Dier dropping into a back three as Dembele and Victor Wanyama.

We'll find out where they all play about 20 seconds after kick-off.

In Belgium, Tottenham picked a strong side. Gent, though, made five changes and left 15-goal top scorer Kalifa Coulibaly on the bench.

Our reporter on the night, Mike Whalley, described Spurs' display as listless, adding that the home fans spent much of the second half singing "we're going to Wembley".

I think they might be up for this tonight.

Hopefully, they'll all have made it to London. With Doris currently battering Britain I can't imagine it was a pleasant journey, regardless of the mode of transport.

Exiting one European competition at the first available juncture can happen. Falling at your first hurdle in two in the same season is very careless.

Tottenham have already said goodbye to the Champions League this campaign. Unless they win by two goals tonight they will be also be waving ta-ta to the Europa League.
