The last team to beat Liverpool at Anfield in the Premier League?

You have to go all the way back to 17 January 2016 when Wayne Rooney's late goal earned Manchester United a 1-0 win.

Since then Jurgen Klopp's side has claimed 39 points from a possible 51 in front of their own fans.

Liverpool are holding their place in the chasing Premier League pack whilst still juggling their cup commitments and, while there wouldn't have been too much disappointment with their draw at Old Trafford last weekend, this is a fixture where only a win will suffice.

That would set them up nicely for their next home game against Chelsea. Their form at Anfield this season has restored the fear factor on the red half of Merseyside.

Anyway, time to look ahead.

We begin with the early kick-off, and a daunting trip to Anfield for struggling Swansea.

And, one final question.

Who to give the armband to in my fantasy football team? Hazard, Sanchez or Ibrahimovic?

There's one other thing that happened yesterday that I would like to mention, one that had nothing to do with football.

Did you see the story of new British tennis sensation Dan Evans and cricketing pariah Kevin Pietersen? 

Meanwhile, in London, West Ham were moving for wantaway Southampton defender Jose Fonte. Double home shirt for Fonte who, like Berahino, posed in front of the club badge.

Who started this nonsense? I mean, when David Jack moved from Plymouth to Bolton for £3,500 in 1920, what did he pose with?

In his 'standard-transfer-holding-a-shirt pose', Berahino went for the lesser-spotted 'wear the home kit and hold the away kit' option. Does he have a squad number, or is he so far off being ready to play that they haven't bothered yet?

Yep, in the most protracted bit of business since WWF went to war with WCW, Saido Berahino finally made the switch from West Brom to Stoke for £12m.

That's the Saido Berahino who once thought he was going to Spurs. Who couldn't be handled by expert man-manager Tony Pulis. And who had to be sent to France to get fit.

There were two Premier League to Premier League transfers completed. One ended a mini transfer saga, another ended a long Ross and Rachel story that has dragged on for months and months.

So, about last night...

Morning. How are you? Suffering from a Friday night out? Already up and about this weekend? Snoozing under the duvet?

I can tell you that it's cold and crisp outside. Sunny with a dusting of frost. All things considered, you're better off where you are, reading this and thinking about the day of football that lies ahead.

Which is exactly what we'll do. 

The transfer window may be flickering into life (more on that in a moment), but Saturdays are when footballers actually play football, rather than move about for vast sums of money.

This Saturday brings seven Premier League games, ending with a top-of-the-table belter this evening. 

But eventually, you have to get down to the day job...
