I think Celta Vigo have tried to be a little bit clever here.

We expected them to play 4-2-3-1.

It looks like 4-2-4 to me.

I think they have switched it around a bit and changed the tactics...

Not a lot of rhythm to the early stages.

A bit of head ping-pong in the middle and not a lot of time when the ball does stick on the deck.

Mallo snaps in on the ankles of Marouane Fellaini as the Belgian tries to control.

    The biter bit.

It looks like Manchester United have lined up with Marcus Rashford as a lone frontman with a trio of Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard just behind.

It will be interesting to see how Pogba gets on if he stays that advanced.

There is no antagonism from these fans. It's been a love of the game kind of atmosphere in this city today.

That could all change if United score an early goal which they will absolutely want to do.

  7. Celta Vigo will be the fresher sidepublished at 20:01 British Summer Time 4 May 2017

    Phil Neville
Former Manchester United defender on Radio 5 live

Celta Vigo are a very dangerous team and they will be the fresher side.

They have a fantastic manager who I don't think will be with them next year - I have heard a lot of Spanish sides are interested in him.

It is a game you expect United to win and Jose Mourinho has prioritised this competition for a while now.

If I were to compare Celta Vigo to a Premier League side, it might be Stoke. They are always finishing in the top half of the table and pushing for the Europa League places but never going to get into the Champions League.

United need to score one or two tonight to give themselves a decent cushion for the return leg.

Argentine Eduardo Berizzo is the man in the home dug-out this evening.

He played under the legendary Marcelo Bielsa at Newell's and Atlas back in the pair's homeland and his priorities are similar - pace, possession and pressing.

He also has a winning way with words if John Guidetti - once of Manchester City, now leading the Celta line - is to be believed.

"The Mister spoke to us today," the Swede told the Times. , external

"He said: ‘Listen, United have 15 training pitches; we have one. They have private jets; we fly with our supporters. We have a small stadium; they have 75,000. They have one player worth more than ten of us together. But it doesn’t change anything.’’’

Former Celta Vigo defender Dan Eggen has been speaking to the BBC about his former team.

"Celta have the potential to absolutely cause United problems. The whole place is really excited.

"They do have a backpack full of good experiences that they can fuel this game with. This is a team with a modern, physical approach - a good defensive approach.

"They have several goalscorers. They have John Guidetti, Iago Aspas and a very interesting player on the left-hand side, Pione Sisto. He has scored a couple of vital European goals."

Jose Mourinho is 100% right to prioritise this over the Premier League because it has that Champions League carrot for new players.

Get to the Champions League via finishing in the top four of the Premier League if you can, but the Europa League is an easier way to do it.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho on BT Sport: I want to see confidence, to see the team playing to win. I want us to fight for a result that will allow us to go at them in the second leg and reach the final.

"Eric Bailly is playing well. He's important, but it's also important to have a proper central defender, Chris Smalling, on the bench. That gives me relief and stability.

"We have lots of experience on the bench. It has personalities. Rashford and Lingard, starting, have a little more sharpness at this moment. We want the youth to create some danger."

A little side order of transfer gossip to go with your main meal tonight madam?

    Don't mind if we do.

The Independent are reporting this evening, external that Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak is lined up as a potential replacement should David de Gea head to Real Madrid in the summer.

The Slovenia international has a release clause of £85m, but presumably, despite Oblak's form, a deal could be worked out for a fair bit less.

The Independent add that Atletico's striker Antoine Griezmann and defender Jose Gimenez are also on United's summer shopping list.
