This is an extraordinarily strong team and strong bench and yes, they have had a few injuries but they should undoubtedly win this tie.

It sounds as if I am being a bit snide to Manchester United. I am not. I am actually very impressed they have managed to build such a strong squad.

    Team news

Fitness boosts galore for Manchester United, with Paul Pogba, Eric Bailly and Chris Smalling all able to take part.

Midfielder Pogba has overcome a muscle strain, while Bailly has recovered from the ankle problem that forced him off against Swansea on Sunday. His fellow defender Smalling is on the bench after a knee injury that has stopped him playing for United since 19 March.

Celta, 11th in La Liga, include former Liverpool striker Iago Aspas and former Manchester City front man John Guidetti.

Celta Vigo: Sergio, Hugo Mallo, Cabral, Roncaglia, Jonny, Wass, Radoja, Hernandez, Aspas, Guidetti, Sisto. Subs: Villar, Fontas, Marcelo Diaz, Bongonda, Beauvue, Jozabed, Sergi Gomez.

Manchester United: Romero, Valencia, Bailly, Blind, Darmian, Ander Herrera, Fellaini, Lingard, Pogba, Mkhitaryan, Rashford. Subs: de Gea, Mata, Rooney, Martial, Smalling, Carrick, Young.

Manchester United have won just twice in 22 European matches away in Spain - an April 2002 win over Deportivo La Coruna in the Champions League quarter‑finals and a 1-0 group-stage win over Valencia in September 2010 courtesy of a Javier Hernandez goal.

If Iago Aspas' Liverpool career was defined by that one corner, we are after other examples of single moments that summed up a player's stay at a club.

For instance, United goalkeeper Massimo Taibi did well in his opening two games against Liverpool and Wimbledon, but it was always going to be a long way back after letting Matt le Tissier's shot squirm through his legs.

Is there anybody as synonymous with one corner-kick as Iago Aspas?

27 May 2014: Liverpool 0-1 Chelsea at Anfield, with the clock reading 91:23 and a draw good enough to keep the destiny of the Premier League title in the Reds' hands.

Aspas stands over the set-piece, but instead of sticking it into the mixer, his duffed pull-back is easily intercepted by Willian to groans from the home fans.

Man City won the title and less than two months later Aspas was on his way out of the club never to return.

But he has been a hit on his return to his hometown club. Aspas is La Liga's fourth highest top-scorer with only Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Luis Suarez ahead of him.

His 17 goals have arrived in only 23 starts at a rate of one every 125 minutes.

So tantalisingly close to seeing Axel Tuanzebe in actual action.

The 19-year-old, who has played a total of 22 first-team minutes, has become a byword for Manchester United's injury-hit defence.

Jose Mourinho suggested that he might pick himself alongisde Tuanzebe against Swansea at the weekend. And that was before Eric Bailly and Luke Shaw limped off in Saturday's draw.

But Bailly is back and Chris Smalling makes the bench.

With Phil Jones also apparently fit, but not part of tonight's squad, is he in line for a start against Arsenal at the weekend?

    Celta Vigo are no patsies.

They may be 11th in La Liga, but they have long since had their sights set on continental matters.

And when it comes to big-game hunting, they have collected some major scalps.

In October, Barcelona were on the wrong end of a helter-skelter 4-3 at the Estadio Balaidos.

In January, Real Madrid were sent spinning out of the Copa del Rey quarter-finals by the same scoreline, albeit on aggregate.

Manchester United will hold no fear.

    Celta Vigo sign

“United are playing against a team that they are massive favourites to beat, but Celta Vigo are no mugs.

“This is a big day for them, it’s a small city on the North West corner of Spain and they’re up for it, no doubt about that. “

“If you look at their teams and look at their players, there’s possibly not one that Jose Mourinho would consider buying.”

Never mind being able to call full house on the Manchester United trophy cabinet, prioritising the Europa League is now the pragmatic decision as well as the romantic one.

Fifth in the league, a point behind Manchester City and four behind Liverpool. Manchester United have the following games left in the league:

    7 May: Arsenal (a)

    14 May: Spurs (a)

    17 May: Southampton (a)

    21 May: Crystal Palace (h)

    Compare that to:

    Tonight: Celta Vigo (a)

    11 May: Celta Vigo (h)

    24 May: Lyon/Ajax

For the Champions League, the only way is Europa.

    Mourinho dismisses Europa League win

Four years ago, Jose didn't want to win the Europa League.

"It would be a big disappointment for me. I don't want my players to feel the Europa League is our competition," the then Chelsea manager said.

    Times, jobs and priorities change.

"I know that it is the only competition that Manchester United as a club have never won and it would be great to close the circle and say, 'We are a club that won every single competition in the football world'," said Mourinho in yesterday's news conference.

And to be able to say 'Champions League entrants 2017-18.'
