  3. The road to Wembley - fifth roundpublished at 15:08 British Summer Time 27 May 2017

    Arsenal v Chelsea (17:30 BST)

Arsenal ended up facing consecutive non-league clubs in the FA Cup this season for the first time in 108 years.

Their first tricky customer were National League strugglers Sutton, who had previously overcome Colchester, Cheltenham, AFC Wimbledon and Leeds United.

But no giant-killing was seen here. The Gunners won 2-0. People ended up being more concerned with a pie-eating goalkeeper (more on that later).

Chelsea made it through with another routine victory over Wolves, who had previously dumped out Liverpool.

  7. 'We won the league and we celebrated'published at 14:57 British Summer Time 27 May 2017

    Arsenal v Chelsea (17:30 BST)

Who reckons Premier League champions Chelsea will be the underdogs at Wembley? Antonio Conte does.

"We could start as underdogs because we won the league and we celebrated," said the Italian.

"It was right to enjoy the moment, but we face a team who lost the possibility to play in the Champions League and this is their only chance of saving the season.

"We must pay great attention but I trust a lot in my players, they’ve shown me all season they can reach a big target like the league. It will be a tough game for both teams but we are ready to fight, play a good game and try to win the trophy."

Former Arsenal and Brazil midfielder Gilberto Silva: "The way David Luiz has returned to the Premier League has been amazing.

"I believe he has matured a lot since the World Cup. He had to learn at some point. We all knew he was a good player. It's nice to see that he has learned through the mistakes."

The players are not the only ones who need to warm up for the big game - Hawk-Eye, which has been used for goal-line decisions in FA Cup finals since 2013, needs to get its, er, eye in too... which is why one of their technical folk has been leaping around the six-yard box throwing the ball, and occasionally himself too, over the line.

  11. The road to Wembley - fourth roundpublished at 14:47 British Summer Time 27 May 2017

    Arsenal v Chelsea (17:30 BST)

For the second FA Cup game in a row, Chelsea stuck four goals past a League One opponent.

This time they inflicted a heavy 4-0 defeat on Bradford, thanks to goals from Willian, Pedro, Branislav Ivanovic and Michy Batshuayi.

Arsenal also enjoyed a big win in the fourth round but they managed to do it against a Premier League rival.

They beat Southampton 5-0 at St Mary's, with Theo Walcott scoring a hat-trick, in a tie played out between two much-changed line-ups.

  15. 'Hazard has been vital for Chelsea'published at 14:38 British Summer Time 27 May 2017

    Arsenal v Chelsea (17:30 BST)

    Ruud Gullit
Former Chelsea manager on Football Focus

I like Eden Hazard very much. He is a decisive player. He plays so cleverly between the lines - he doesn't just stay as a left winger.

Chelsea are hopeful to keep him but I think Real Madrid wants him. I think it could be a swap deal, maybe with Bale - that are the rumours but I hope he stays at Chelsea because he has been vital.

It is scorchio at Wembley right now, with the pitch looking resplendent in the spring sunshine, but you have to be ready for anything with the British weather, which is possibly why thousands of Arsenal and Chelsea scarves have been draped across pretty much every seat inside the stadium.

They will make a nice souvenir, especially for the winners, but supporters going to the game are more likely to need their sunglasses when they get here and the gates open at 15:30 BST.

It’s a huge game for Arsenal in terms of how their season has gone. There has been the disappointment of the Champions League, and the FA Cup final is a chance to create something positive at the end of the season. They are going into it as underdogs.
