  4. The story of the quarter-finals - Lincoln's dream run endspublished at 15:55 British Summer Time 27 May 2017

    FA Cup 2016-17

Lincoln were undoubtedly the story of this season's FA Cup.

They came through eight games, beating Premier League Burnley and now promoted Championship side Brighton along the way to become the first non-league side to reach the quarter-finals of the competition in 103 years.

Their incredible run was ended in emphatic fashion as they lost 5-0 to today's finalists Arsenal.

There were tears at full-time but they were soon dried when they went on to earn promotion back to the Football League later in the season.

  6. The road to Wembley - quarter-finalspublished at 15:51 British Summer Time 27 May 2017

    Arsenal v Chelsea (17:30 BST)

Chelsea faced holders Manchester United in the quarter-finals and it was a typically stormy affair.

Ander Herrera was sent off for United, the Red Devils manager Jose Mourinho was involved in touchline clashes with Antonio Conte, and Mourinho was verbally abused by Chelsea fans on his return to Stamford Bridge.

N'Golo Kante's second-half winner settled it in the end, meaning there was going to be a new name on the trophy.

Arsenal enjoyed another high-scoring win against another non-league side. This time it was Lincoln, who were playing in the sixth round for the first time in their history.

    FA Cup 2016-17

Sutton United became the focal point of the FA Cup after their incredible run to the fifth round and their self-styled 'Roly Poly Goalie' Wayne Shaw was stealing the headlines for being a bit of a character.

The National League side had booked a meeting with today's finalists Arsenal - a match which was arguably the biggest in their history - but it was substitute Shaw who was in the spotlight after he was papped eating a pie at half-time.

It turns out it was publicity stunt by a betting company, and soon pie-gate was in session.

"It was just a bit of banter," Shaw proclaimed. He ended up being sacked by Sutton and was was investigated by the FA for potentially breaching betting rules.
