Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey, speaking to Dan Walker on BBC One: "It's absolutely boiling here and we're going to have to manage ourselves correctly.

"We've had some great memories here in this competition. We do like playing here. We hope to have something to celebrate today.

"I think we have let the manager down at times this season. He believes in us and we only have ourselves to blame. We hope to produce something for him and the fans today."

Kevin Mills: Ludicrous decision to drop Cech for the final - they need all his experience with that weakened and unfamiliar defence. Chelsea win.

TC: When you are a man of your word, you are a man of your word. Can't say I agree with the decision to not play Cech but that's Wenger.

Sam littlechild : Ospina in for Petr Cech why, I can't begin to understand the rationale behind this. Cech is a proven winner. 😔

  5. A new-look Arsenal defencepublished at 16:48 British Summer Time 27 May 2017

    Arsenal v Chelsea (17:30 BST)

The last teams to lift the FA Cup with back threes are Wigan (2013) and Chelsea (1997).

Arsenal used a back three for the first time in 20 years in April (at Boro) & have used it for their last nine league and cup games.

    Alan Shearer

That is a huge ask for Per Mertesacker to come in after playing 53 minutes of the season or so. I think Conte will target that back three. He'll tell Diego Costa to get into that back three as soon as he can.

You might say Arsene Wenger is stubborn, but I think he's got tremendous faith in his own ability.

    Arsenal v Chelsea (17:30 BST)

    Arsenal XI

Some eyebrow-raising team news from Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, as centre-back Per Mertesacker makes his first start of the season, playing alongside Rob Holding and Nacho Monreal in a back three who haven't played together before.

Despite the weaknesses in defence, David Ospina starts in goal ahead of Petr Cech. Danny Welbeck gets the nod ahead of Olivier Giroud up top.

Arsenal XI: Ospina, Holding, Mertesacker, Monreal, Bellerin, Ramsey, Xhaka, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Alexis, Ozil, Welbeck.

    Chelsea XI

Antonio Conte names a Chelsea team many would have expected. All the regulars are in. Nemanja Matic starts in central midfield ahead of Cesc Fabregas, while Pedro is preferred to Willian out wide.

Chelsea XI: Courtois, Azpilicueta, David Luiz, Cahill, Moses, Kante, Matic, Alonso, Pedro, Diego Costa, Hazard.

    • Seven of the last eight FA Cup ties between these sides have been won by Arsenal.
    • Chelsea came out on top in the last meeting – a 2-1 semi-final win in 2009 – but that is their only FA Cup victory against the Gunners in the last 70 years.
    • Overall, the sides have been paired together 13 times in this competition, with Arsenal winning eight ties and Chelsea victorious five times.
    • In league and cup, Chelsea have won eight of the last 13 encounters (D3, L2).
    • This is only the second FA Cup final in 35 years to feature two London clubs – the other was in 2002 when Arsenal beat Chelsea to claim the Double.

It's a final that's got everything. There's a team flying with confidence having won the Premier League and a manager who is looking for the double in his first season. Then there's Arsenal, struggling with injuries and suspensions but with a manager looking for a record seventh FA Cup win. It should be a great game.

Chelsea are confident. They won he Premier League two weeks ago so it will be interesting to see how they have handled that patch. But they have a manager who will be pushing them and pushing them.

When you are so close to making history, the players are going to be more than up for it.

Security is being increased at Wembley following the suicide bomb attack in Manchester on Monday.

Extra armed police will protect and reassure the almost 90,000 fans expected to descend on the national stadium as Arsenal take on Chelsea.

Earlier in the week, an FA spokesperson said: “Fan safety is of paramount importance and we have robust security measures in place at Wembley Stadium.

“All supporters are encouraged to arrive for events at Wembley Stadium as early as possible for security checks and to avoid any delays in entering the stadium.”

And then there were four - all from the top flight.

League leaders Chelsea came up against second-place Tottenham, while sixth-placed Arsenal faced Man City, who occupied fourth spot.

The Gunners came out as 2-1 winners in extra time, thanks to Alexis Sanchez's winner. The result meant Pep Guardiola came away trophyless from his first season as City boss.

Chelsea, meanwhile, endured a six-goal thriller at Wembley.

It had looked like this one was going to extra time as well, with the score at 2-2, but Eden Hazard and Nemanja Matic came to the rescue to send the Blues through to the final.
