Southampton have had 13 touches inside the Leicester box (left graphic), compared to just two in the Saints area for Leicester.

Gary Lineker described the Foxes well a little earlier. They look so pedestrian in attack.

Nathan Redmond is up for this one. He's been Southampton's liveliest player and he snaps at Christian Fuchs' and Nampalys Mendy's heels after giving away the ball down the right, eventually giving away a free-kick.

Gareth Southgate is in attendance today. Not a lot to get the England boss too excited just yet.

    Southampton 0-0 Leicester

The game is starting to come to life as both sides work the respective goalkeepers in quick succession. First, Kasper Schmeichel gets down to deny a low Nathan Redmond strike at his near post before Fraser Forster has his gloves warmed by a well-struck Demarai Gray drive.

Safe to say Leicester's game plan today largely centres on getting the ball out to Demarai Gray on the left wing...

    Southampton need wins.

If we see them push forward we might see space in behind for Vardy.

I think Southampton will miss Fonte. I think he has been undervalued.

The supporters might not realise how important he has been to the wonderful progress of Van Dijk.

I believe we have just had out first shot on target as Wilfred Ndidi chests a clearance down 35 yards from goal before shooting. It's pretty much a passback, though, as Fraser Forster has plenty of time to position himself behind it.

It's a very subdued atmosphere at St Mary's, the majority of fans perhaps hugging warm cups of coffee to combat the bitterly cold conditions. A good opening quarter-of-an-hour for the home side, but neither keeper tested yet.

    Southampton need goals from midfield.

James Ward-Prowse, for all of his good play, only five goals in over 100 games. Not enough.

    Southampton 0-0 Leicester

Southampton mix it up with an attack down the right flanks this time as Cedric Soares floats in a cross for Jay Rodriguez. The strikers rises to meet the ball but nods it well wide.

Southampton are using the width of the pitch really well, just a shame about the finishing.

Finally Leicester attack as Danny Drinkwater steals the ball from Ryan Bertrand but his attempt at a cross is deflected out for a throw. Then Christian Fuchs fizzes in a cross for Jamie Vardy, but it sails just over his head.

Next to have a pop at goal for Southampton is Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg as he lashes an effort over the bar from Ryan Bertrand's clipped pass, again from the left.

Leicester haven't got out of their own half yet.

Redmond certainly climbed well there and it was a beautiful ball.

He got the technical bit of the header right but just couldn't keep it down.

Everything is coming down the left for Southampton at the moment with Danny Simpson struggling to deal with the Dusan Tadic-Ryan Bertrand combo.

The Saints pair combine to work an opportunity as Tadic crosses to the far post for Nathan Redmond, who plants a header on the roof of the net.

Both of these teams will be looking over their shoulder slightly.

Southampton have been on a poor run recently.

Goals have been hard to come by for them. They don't get enough from midfield.

It's a good start by Southampton, who are doing all the attacking in the first few minutes. Ryan Bertrand gets the crowd going with a promising break down the left but then skews his cross high into the stands behind the goal.

No cap for Kasper Schmeichel, who has bright sunshine to contend with in this half. He squints before struggling to deal with an awkward bounce following a cross and then fumbles the ball in front of Dusan Tadic.

    Southampton v Leicester (12:00 GMT)

Leicester City did what Tottenham did at Manchester City yesterday when they played at St Mary's last season. They were losing 2-0 before Jamie Vardy hit a brace to earn a 2-2 draw.

Hopefully we are in for similiar entertainment today.

The players are in the tunnel. Referee Michael Oliver checks everyone is okay before leading them out onto the pitch.
