Several players react with exasperation to his decision, which is perhaps a bit harsh and seems to indicate that Hull have them rattled.

Adama Diomande - head chock-full of hand-based instructions from Silva - comes on to replace Abel Hernandez.

Hull boss Marco Silva really does give good pep-talks on the sidelines. 

He's just about to send Adama Diomande on and is giving the Norway international all kinds of hand signals, windmilling away like a good 'un. 

I assume it all makes perfect sense to his players...

It has been a game where everyone from Chelsea is waiting for someone else to do something. 

There is a little bit of nervousness going around the ground at the moment.

Hull really are making it an uncomfortable afternoon for Chelsea here. 

They win a corner and then keep the pressure on after the ball is played in. It eventually breaks to Michael Dawson who took a shot from a tight angle around six yards out but Courtois made another stop - his fourth of the afternoon.

Matt Barron: So Hull should have had a freekick before Chelsea's goal and now don't get a stonewall penalty? 12 vs 11 at the moment

That said, Harry Maguire has just taken another shot on goal from a free-kick awared after Sam Clucas was blocked off by David Luiz. 

Maguire fails to make a telling connection, however, and the Chelsea goalkeeper watches it wide.

The crocked Davies - already off the pitch - is replaced by Oumar Niasse, the striker on loan from Everton.

A change of formation for the Tigers, who are clearly going with four at the back, which might spoil Harry Maguire's afternoon...

More injury problems for Hull.

Curtis Davies has pulled up with an apparent hamstring problem and is having to go off.

Hull's squad is already pretty threadbare and they've lost another two players today. And they sold Jake Livermore this week.

Courtois has been the busier of the two keepers.

Hull have more than played their part in this game. They do not deserve to be behind.

David Meyler is the next Hull player to take a pot-shot from distance.

His 25-yarder is on target and Courtois has to get down to make another save.

Hull are looking good under Marco Silva. You sense that even if they don't win today, they have enough to make a real fist of their survival fight over the coming months.

It is a clear penalty.

There isn't any ambiguity about it. Hernandez got there first and was brought down.

I think Chelsea just got away with one there. 

Abel Hernandez and Marcos Alonso went for the ball in the area and the Hull striker just got there a moment before the Chelsea man, who clipped his ankle. 

Neil Swarbrick didn't see anything wrong and Hull's players look pretty miffed about the decision.

The news from the Hull camp is that Ryan Mason has been taken to hospital after that clash of heads with Gary Cahill.

Straight away Hull's secret weapon Harry Maguire steps up to intercept in midfield, runs forward and then - a tad optimistically in my humble opinion - lamps it from fully 40 yards.

It goes wide but you have to admire his confidence.
