  2. Allardyce 'in shock' after defeatpublished at 11:13 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2017

    Crystal Palace 0-4 Sunderland

There was no little jiggle from Sam Allardyce after his side were thrashed by Sunderland.

"I saw fear strike the players," he said. "It was a huge shock for me what I saw. The lads find it difficult to play here at the moment.

"It is not often the players get much stick but they deserved the booing. I have to apologise for the first half."

Yesterday was a significant day for Jack Rodwell.

For the first time in 1,370 days he won a Premier League match in which he started as Sunderland beat Crystal Palace 4-0, three years, eight months and 29 days after starting in a Manchester City victory.

Rodwell's winless run of 39 matches stretches back to a City win over West Brom on 7 May 2013 and includes 37 games since he joined the Black Cats.

But it was not all good news as he came off injured after half-time.

  5. 'We all did it at school'published at 10:55 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2017

Ian Wright had no problem with Ross Barkley's premature celebration.

"There’s nothing wrong with that," he said.

“You remember doing that when you were a kid at school. You’d bring it to the line and bend down and head it in.

“I’m glad he’s got the confidence to do that. He gets a lot of stick so he should enjoy his moment.”

Something that sparked plenty of debate was Ross Barkley celebrating before he scored against Bournemouth - some fans loved it, some felt it disrespectful. I personally don't mind it although I won't lie, I had hoped he'd shank it wide after his celebration.

What's your view? Have you ever seen something like it before and have you ever celebrated a goal prematurely only for it to go horribly wrong?

The award for most entertaining game of the day yesterday surely goes to Everton versus Bournemouth.

Nine goals were scored as the Toffees won 6-3, a result that moves them to within six points of the top four.

Could they sneak into the Champions League places?

Five-time European champions Liverpool have played in the Champions League just once in the past six seasons.

They remain in the qualifying places despite their defeat at Hull, but Manchester City will pass them if they avoid defeat by Swansea and Manchester United will move to within one point of the Reds if they beat Leicester City.

Jurgen Klopp has told his players to forget about focusing on their league position and accept all the criticism that will come their way because "it's 100% true".

"The Champions League is a big, big target but it is so difficult because there are so many challengers," he said. "After the performance against Hull we don't have to think about this."

    What the papers say

The Six Nations dominates the back of the Sunday Express but down the side of it are a couple of Arsenal and Liverpool stories where they suggest both Arsene Wenger and Jurgen Klopp have conceded defeat in the title race.

What is going on at the Reds? No league win in 2017 after a surprise defeat at Hull City yesterday.

  10. Wenger out?published at 10:30 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2017

    John Hartson
Ex-Wales striker on BBC Radio 5 live

Deep down I think Arsenal fans look at themselves in the mirror and they don't really want to see the back of Arsene Wenger, a man who has done so much for the club.

But they are fed up of the same thing happening every season. They should be getting closer to the title.

Every good thing comes to an end, and I think the end of this season could be a good time for Wenger to step aside.

    Chelsea 3-1 Arsenal

    Ian Wright

It is a tough couple of months for Arsene Wenger and Arsenal are doing what they do when they slip up.

Arsene Wenger has some really serious thinking to do at the end of the season.

Does he still have the stomach to do this again? Arsenal are in the top four, but they aren't winning the league.

    What the papers say

Arsenal dominate many of today's papers after their title challenge was dealt a huge blow with defeat at Chelsea.

The Gunners are now 12 points behind the Blues and the calls from the club's fans for Arsene Wenger to leave have grown. The Frenchman is also odds on with one bookmaker to be gone by the start of next season.

  16. Something amiss in the Foxes dressing room?published at 10:11 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2017

Leicester v Man Utd (16:00 GMT)

    Mark Lawrenson
Former Liverpool defender on Radio 5 live

I don't think the Leicester players are working hard enough. They have players with real ability.

They can’t go from top to where they are without something being wrong. They should be in a far better position.

As good as that dressing room was last year, and it was a major player in them winning the league last season, it isn't the same this time.

  17. Football's longest hangover?published at 10:08 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2017

Almost a year ago to the date, Leicester City pulled off a stunning 3-1 win at Manchester City to move five points clear at the top of the Premier League. An unlikely dream was on the verge of becoming reality.

Fast forward 12 months and that dream has turned into a nightmare.

Without a Premier League win in 2017, without a league goal scored in 2017 and amid reports of unrest behind the scenes all does not appear well at the Foxes.

It has been almost 80 years since the reigning top-flight champion has been relegated but with Leicester sitting just one point above the drop zone, is the dreaded 'r' word a real possibility for Claudio Ranieri's side?

    Good morning!

The Chelsea juggernaut rolled on yesterday as the Blues beat Arsenal to move nine points clear.

The staff at Stamford Bridge can probably start making room in the cabinet for another Premier League trophy but there's little between the sides below them.

Both Manchester clubs are in action today and wins will put them firmly in the mix for a top-four finish. Here's who they are up against:

.. As far as Pep Guardiola and Manchester City will be concerned, Saturday's results were a mixed bag.

The top two won but Arsenal and Liverpool both lost, meaning a win for Pep's side against Swansea today will move them up to third.

Barring an almighty collapse, Chelsea surely have the title in the bag but the battle to finish in the top four is shaping up to be a good one.
