There's a little stoppage in play as Bristol City's on-loan star Tammy Abraham receives treatment after a clattering challenge by Matt Connolly - who, incidentally, has also hurt himself.

Given the Robins have relied so heavily upon Abraham's goals this season - 17 of them in all competitions - they'll be desperate to see him back on his feet.

And, the good news for them, is that he is indeed now back up and ready to continue.

Given we've got a few tasty derbies to get stuck into in the Championship this afternoon - this one at Ashton Gate, followed by Sheffield Wednesday v Huddersfield and Wolves v Aston Villa - we figured it'd be nice to hear your best and worst memories of derby day.

Ever seen your team bag a last-gasp winner against your fiercest rivals? Ever had to watch on as your side copped a hiding from the enemy?

One thing the hosts most certainly will have to take care with this afternoon is Aron Gunnarsson's ridiculous, arrowing long throw-in. It's an absolute menace to defend against - but the towering Aden Flint manages to head his latest effort away.

It's you attack, we attack at Ashton Gate.

This time it's Joe Bryan's turn to move forward for Bristol City, but his shot from inside the area is well blocked by Sol Bamba.

Bamba was absolutely immense for Cardiff in the return fixture, scoring on his debut, and it's been more of the same already so far today.

And now Bristol City are having to do some defending, as first Aden Flint closes Anthony Pilkington down in a dangerous position, and then Peter Whittingham sees a shot deflected over Frank Fielding's crossbar.

Entertaining, spiky stuff, but neither goalkeeper has yet been tested.

Historically there's not been a huge amount between these two teams, with Bristol City edging the overall head-to-head record...

    Bristol City 0-0 Cardiff

The hosts have made a relatively bright start, with Jens Hegeler striking a free-kick straight into the Cardiff City wall after a foul on Tammy Abraham.

Remarkably, the Robins have only scored one first-half goal at home this season.

There’s no love lost between these two sides. There’s a lot of history and rivalry. They are closest neighbours in the Championship and it’s always made for a great game. Let’s hope for the same today.

Bristol City v Cardiff (12:00 GMT)

The two teams are out onto the pitch at Ashton Gate. There are about 20,000 fans inside the ground today, which isn't such a shabby effort for an early kick off.

Before we get under way, as will be the case up and down the country this afternoon, there will be a minute's applause to honour the memory of former England manager Graham Taylor, who died on Thursday.

One of football's great cliches? I'd say so. However, one look at the league table would probably tell you that, in truth, this one probably is actually mostly about three points.

These two teams sit 18th and 19th in the Championship table, level on points, with the Robins only marginally better off thanks to their superior goal difference.

The way things are heading, however, they won't be marginally better off for long. Lee Johnson's side have lost nine of their last 10 league games and their last six in a row.

Johnson actually references their 2-1 defeat at the Cardiff City Stadium before Christmas as the match that sparked their hideous run - Neil Warnock's first in charge.

The pair get on famously, by the way...

  11. Port Vale P-P MK Donspublished at 11:55 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January 2017

While we home in on kick-off at Ashton Gate, we're sorry to tell you that there'll be no football played at Vale Park this afternoon.

Port Vale's League One fixture against MK Dons was called off at 09:00 GMT following a pitch inspection because of heavy snow in Burslem.

As things stand, the other 28 EFL games due to kick off at 15:00 GMT are all still set to go ahead as planned...

We'll be bringing you all the best bits from 33 fixtures taking place across the EFL's three divisions this afternoon, starting at Ashton Gate and finishing at Molineux, where Wolves play local rivals Aston Villa in the 17:30 GMT kick-off.

We'll be focusing on the Championship, as always, so here's a taste of what'll be sandwiched in between the day's two big derby matches...

    • Birmingham City v Nottingham Forest
    • Brentford v Newcastle United
    • Burton Albion v Wigan Athletic
    • Fulham v Barnsley
    • Ipswich Town v Blackburn Rovers
    • Preston North End v Brighton & Hove Albion
    • Rotherham United v Norwich City
    • Sheffield Wednesday v Huddersfield Town

We've got plenty of time to focus on all of the above a bit later on, of course, so for now let's focus on the game in south Bristol, starting with some team news...

If you're a firm believer in FA Cup magic, then you'd probably come to the conclusion that South Wales is suffering a magician shortage.

Only 4,500 or so Cardiff City fans turned out to witness their team's third-round victory over Fulham a week ago - a tie that even manager Neil Warnock admitted he "struggled to get out of bed" for.

Today, however, I think we can fully expect apathy to be replaced by enthusiasm. Besides, bragging rights are at stake.

If you're a neutral, you may not know a huge amount about the Severnside derby, but we hope to spend the next couple of hours educating you. It's rarely short of incident.

Our coverage of Saturday's EFL action begins with Bristol City v Cardiff City from 12:00 GMT.
