Stoke defender Erik Pieters, speaking to Sky Sports:  "When you come here, you have to be top level and any performance below that they can kill you.

"Every opportunity for Harry Kane is a goal - the free kick was lucky but if you are not at your best level, they can hurt you".

Stoke boss Mark Hughes, speaking to BBC Sport: "The game's done in the first half. The manner of the goals we conceded was not good enough at any level. The second half was zero conceded and I guess that's a positive but that's because Spurs didn't push.

"We were too passive and not doing enough to stop balls going to our goal. Clearly Spurs are very good but if you allow teams time and space then good players will hurt you."

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino, speaking to BBC Sport, about hat-trick hero Harry Kane: "He's playing at a very good level. He's one of the best strikers in the world. He deserves it because he's a great professional."

On Dele Alli: "Dele is very mature and a great boy. I am very pleased for him, he had a difficult few days but it was a good response. He was fantastic on the pitch."

"Ten points is a big gap [to Chelsea] - but we keep going and believe. We try to put on pressure."

Tottenham have a full week to prepare for their next game - Everton at home on Sunday, 5 March (13:30 GMT). Stoke must pick themselves up at home to Middlesbrough on Saturday, 4 March (15:00 GMT).

Tottenham striker Harry Kane, speaking Sky Sports, about scoring 100 club goals: "We wanted to get back to winning ways. What a first half that was. It was exactly what we needed.

"I tried to get my shots off -  I had luck with third one. I was going to shoot for the fourth but passed to Dele.

"I got told before the game on Thursday I was on 99 club goals - it's nice to get those kind of records. Hopefully another 100 in the next few years.

After the misery of going out of the Europa League of Thursday, Spurs have bounced back strongly and their season remains very much alive.

They're in the sixth round of the FA Cup and are now second in the Premier League table after an eighth successive Premier League home win.

I expected so much more from Stoke. They are usually tough to break down but it is a day to forget for them.

From a Spurs point of view they have reacted perfectly after the European disappointment. They were the much the better team. 

Tottenham move above Manchester City into second spot. Chelsea's lead at the top is down to....just the 10 points. The headlines belong to Harry Kane.

Ugly tackle by Victor Wanyama on Joe Allen. No need for that at this stage. It's a yellow card for the Spurs man.

Another save by Lee Grant to keep out Dele Alli after Stoke's defence again goes missing in action. 

One of the biggest roars of the afternoon as White Hart Lane rises to give Harry Kane a standing ovation. His afternoon is over and he is taking another match ball home with him. Where's he going to put this one? Surely he's running out of space. Son Heung-min is on for the closing stages.

Stoke have been marginally better this half but Tottenham will be just conserving their energy, knocking it around and making Stoke sweat. 

Stoke are so poor that even Kyle Walker fancies his chances of scoring. The defender is denied by another fine save by Grant.
