  1. goal

GOAL - Leicester 3-0 Liverpoolpublished at 61 mins

    Jamie Vardy

    And it is three!

Jamie Vardy has a second of the night as once again the Liverpool defence can't deal with the basics. Christian Fuchs puts over a cross from the left, Vardy gets between Lucas and Emre Can and nods down into the bottom corner.

It's a simple game at times...

  2. CLOSE!published at 59 mins

    Leicester 2-0 Liverpool

Leicester almost have a third but a) Jamie Vardy is offside and

    b) He puts a lob on to the roof of the net.

He is getting clear of Lucas and Joel Matip time and time again though.

    Leicester 2-0 Liverpool

All that's missing from the Leicester 2015-16 box set tonight is a goal from Riyad Mahrez. N'Golo Kante apart.

He has the chance to get fans excited when Shinji Okazaki makes a great tackle in midfield, but after ghosting past one man the Algerian concedes possession with a really poor pass.

At the other end Sadio Mane then has a shot well blocked by Robert Huth.

    Leicester 2-0 Liverpool

A defeat tonight would leave Liverpool fifth in the league, a point behind Arsenal. Liverpool have won just once in the league in 2017 - concerns?

Philippe Coutinho has another effort from 20+ yards but Kasper Schmeichel watches it all the way and holds on.

Jurgen Klopp's men seeing all of the ball now, Adam Lallana in particular pulling the strings on the right. If Leicester are to be pushed back deep and forced to soak up pressure it could get edgy.

But that's brilliant again from Jamie Vardy, isolating Lucas, bursting past him for pace, taking the ball 40 yards up the pitch, getting into the area and just not being able to find a team-mate inside. Superb work.

How many of these Leicester players in the last few months have been able to go home after a match, look in the mirror and say "I did everything I could have done during that game?"

Tonight, they all can so far.

    Leicester 2-0 Liverpool

Liverpool made a shoddy start to the first half but they are bossing the play so far, keeping it simple - and then they play it out of play.

    Talk among yourselves.

Jordan Henderson is indeed missing tonight, but I'm not sure you can pin that first-half display on his absence. Liverpool just couldn't deal with Leicester's up-and-at-em style.

Moon Quddus: "The good news for Liverpool fans is that your side can only play better than that in the second half." Please don't challenge us.

Jon Hall: Leicester continuing the perfect Chelsea impression, win the league and get your manager sacked. Just need to sign Kante....

Dhru Patel: Henderson is a major miss for Liverpool tonight, no energy in the team. The driving force behind the Liverpool attack

Here they come, Liverpool out early, presumably with some choice words ringing in their ears.

    Leicester 2-0 Liverpool

The good news for Liverpool fans is that your side can only play better than that in the second half. Such is Leicester's run of form that if Liverpool get the next goal, then it will get very, very edgy inside the King Power.

It's never nice to single a player out but sometimes you feel duty bound to - how have Liverpool ended up with Lucas at centre-half? Jamie Vardy left him in his wake for the first goal and on several occasions since.

I know hindsight is 20-20 but to loan a £20m defender to Palace and play a veteran Brazilian midfielder instead - it's a mind boggler.

Steve Cummins: This performance is a disgrace from Leicester, shows that they downed tools to get Ranieri sacked. Hope they go down.

Peter Blow: What are the odds on Leicester winning the title next season?

Richard Weston: It’s absolutely imperative Leicester get Roberto di Matteo as manager now

Leicester City have just produced 45 minutes that would have sat perfectly comfortably alongside some of those they produced to win the Premier League.

Pacy, vibrant, threatening, industrious. Leicester City, where have you been all season? Standing ovation from the home fans.

Well I just can't believe what I'm seeing. It's completely different. They've got an extra yard, they've got extra desire.

And it's actually quite uncomfortable watching this in a strange way.

They have been playing like champions and the only difference is the manager is not here. And that doesn't seem to sit that well.

Marc Albrighton, outstanding in this first half, tries to lob Simon Mignolet from the halfway line, that's how confident the champions are again.

And then Kasper Schmeichel, hero of Seville, is away at full stretch to tip an Emre Can shot away.
