    Sunderland 0-2 Manchester City

The game is gone, down to walking pace now as that early intensity takes its toll on weary Wearside lumbs. Yaya Toure is strolling it in midfield. Could be a painful last 25 minutes for the Sunderland players.

Craig Smith:#Sunderland, external aren't playing bad. Just #ManchesterCity, external are outstanding on that counter. Simply the better side.

Theo Bowyer: Sane has adapted to life in the PL very quickly... almost an assist or goal per game. Sublime

I'm fairly sure David Moyes' post-match interview will be very similar to what he said last week. Sunderland have done OK but it just isn't enough.

"There is a gulf in quality, but the players are giving everything they've got. If we're getting let down anywhere, we don't quite have the quality."

It's a good response from Sunderland. First Seb Larsson hammers in a shot which Willy Caballero kicks out, and then from the corner Lamine Kone heads another on target and Caballero gathers in.

Lots and lots of Sunderland fans are leaving already. Get the roasts in.

Incisive. Zip all the way through the midfield. The celebrations are interesting now. You would think it would be mooted but they are seriously celebrating because they knew they had to get a second goal there.

  6. Sane strokes in a secondpublished at 17:17 Greenwich Mean Time 5 March 2017

    Sunderland 0-2 Manchester City

That was top class! City go through the gears and put Sunderland away with apparent ease. Raheem Sterling breaks the line, finds David Silva, who plays in the overlapping Leroy Sane at pace. Real pace.

He's so quick over the first few yards, he leaves Billy Jones for dead and then hammers in off the foot of the post. Clinical.

  8. GREAT SAVE!published at 57 mins

    Sunderland 0-1 Manchester City

GREAT is stretching it but this half has been so poor so far that it's all relative. Yaya Toure has the ball on the edge of the area, finds Raheem Sterling at walking pace inside the box, he tees up David Silva, whose powerful shot is beaten clear by Jordan Pickford.

Sunderland have a got a little wider now. That is what they need to do to get back into this game.

Very very scrappy stuff at the moment. Sunderland almost pop Didier Ndong through, only to see the flag raised, as both sides struggle to find any rhythm.

Crossing practice needed next week. First Raheem Sterling overclubs a cross straight out of play and then Bacary Sagna, after maybe 20 passes of patient build-up, duffs one behind for a goal kick.

    Great approach play, dreadful cross.

    Sunderland 0-1 Manchester City

Willy Caballero shanks a kick clean out of play, not for the first time today. Who will be City's number one goalkeeper next season?

There's an argument that it won't be Caballero, Bravo or Joe Hart...

  13. Postpublished at 46 mins

    Sunderland 0-1 Manchester City

Raheem Sterling finds a lot of space on the right wing straight away but his cross is very poor and straight into the hands of Jordan Pickford. Sunderland counter and Seb Larsson almost has the ball at the back post.

Manchester City are up to third as it stands, while Sunderland would be six points shy of Crystal Palace and safety.

Six points with 11 games left. It feels like a stretch.

Massive frustration for Sunderland. When Defoe hit the post with that shot that really lifted the Sunderland players and they were brilliant but there was always a chance from a break for City.

Matt: Sunderland had to make their possession count for something. This game was never going to end 0-0

Dale Gordon: What's all the talk of Aguero leaving in summer...this would be criminal...like salt leaving the sea or Manchester leaving UK

  20. 'We won't get carried away'published at 16:48 Greenwich Mean Time 5 March 2017

    Tottenham 3-2 Everton

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham striker Harry Kane: "We had done so well. We controlled the game, probably should have been 3-0 up but 2-0 is a dodgy scoreline. We deserved the win today.

"Christian Eriksen, Eric Dier and myself were having shots from that distance in training yesterday. I had a go and it managed to go in. I'll take the two goals but slightly disappointed I didn't get to take home the match ball."

Dele Alli: "Everton are a tough team to beat home and away. We dominated the game until the last 10 minutes when it looked a bit shaky.

"We just focus on ourselves, it is important we don't get carried away in the league. We have Millwall next in the Fa Cup."
