  1. Saints draft in teenage full-backpublished at 22:36 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2017

St Johnstone, usually very quiet on these nights, have arranged a loan deal for Clive Smith from Preston North End.

    The 19-year-old is a right-back.

“I’m delighted to bring in a young defender for the rest of the season," says Saints boss Tommy Wright. "It hadn’t been our plan but unfortunately Ally Gilchrist has had a significant setback and will undergo further surgery later this week.

"Having committed Liam Gordon and Aaron Comrie to Peterhead for further experience that leaves me with only six defenders for the rest of the campaign. Clive has come highly recommended and will be a good addition to the squad.”

  2. Dundee United bring in winger Nichollspublished at 22:29 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2017

    FT: Ross County 1-2 Motherwell

Ross County manager Jim McIntyre speaking to BBC Scotland:

"Even in the games we've won in recent weeks we have had calamitous moments that have led to us gifting teams goals, and we've another two tonight. We never played well tonight but we created opportunities. For some reason we were lacking in confidence which is strange considering we've been in really good form and playing well."

McIntyre also confirmed goalscorer Jay McEveley picked up an injury, forcing his substitution at half-time.

  4. Clyde were magnificent - Fergusonpublished at 22:23 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2017

    FT: Clyde 3-2 Stirling Albion

Clyde manager Barry Ferguson: "Just getting the win was the important thing. I thought we were magnificent in the first half. We thoroughly deserve to go through.

"I thought everybody, to a man, they were great.

"They [Ayr] are a Championship team. They'll be overwhelming favourites. We'll go down and have a go at them."

    Ross County 1-2 Motherwell

"I thought we were tidy. I feel comfortable that we deserved to win. That's why we're desperate to keep him [Scott McDonald], he leads the line so well. I thought the two of them up front tonight, [McDonald and Moult], they both got a goal, they were both brilliant. It's very important for us we do keep them.

"We're waiting for feedback, we're waiting for calls. [Chief operating officer] Alan Burrows will get them on the way down in the car or I'll get them on the bus. It's not impossible something will happen but there's no certainty about it. I hope that he [McDonald] stays but you never know until the clock ticks past the deadline."

"There's a few who can't handle where we are in the league.

"I'm not going to take the full blame for this, the players need to stand up and be counted."
