  1. SUBSTITUTION - Redmond onpublished at 66 mins

    Germany 0-0 England

Nathan Redmond makes his England debut in place of Adam Lallana, while Liverpool's Emre Can replaces Julian Weigl. Eric Dier pumps an early free-kick long and high for Jamie Vardy to chase and he very nearly takes it out of the sky.

Would have been home and dry.

Bob: England still haven't found a reliable goal scorer! Get Jermain Defoe on!!!

Fab: Met a lot of Germans who say their arch nemesis is actually Italy, who they struggle to play against. Organised and with swift counters, we play like that with this team and we have a chance on the international stage.

Josh Earl: we have the players and squad to worry any side on our day. We just need to play with maturity and confidence when it matters

Good from Dele Alli again, switching play to Kyle Walker, who feeds it inside for Adam Lallana, into the penalty area, there's the cut-back - cleared.

Jamie Vardy has been isolated at times but this system has got the best out of Adam Lallana and Dele Alli, in my opinion anyway. It looks a better fit.

England haven't really been tested.. The system looks OK, they look relatively comfortable and are trying to play out from the back.

My only issue is the wing-backs haven't got forward as much as I would expect. Because of that Jamie Vardy has been a little bit isolated.

Andre Schurrle, on his home ground now, instantly shoots wide after cutting in from the right wing. The German Andros Townsend.

I would like to see Jermain Defoe get a a chance, he has been a fantastic servant for England over the years. He is back in the squad, give him a chance.

Marcus Rashford, go two up top. When you've got three at the back you can do that.

    I think we'll see a change soon.

  8. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 59 mins

    Germany 0-0 England

Andre Schurrle comes on for Julian Brandt, pace, pace, pace.

England win a corner which is nodded down and Dele Alli is there - blocked! He's the class of the field tonight.

  9. 'Repeat performance from Alli'published at 21:08 Greenwich Mean Time 22 March 2017

Germany now threatening more but there is still far more urgency about England. Dele Alli had an impressive night in England's friendly win in Berlin a year ago and he is producing a repeat performance tonight.

There's a goal in this for England, the front three look dangerous every time they get on the ball, with Dele Alli always in space. He flicks it through to Jamie Vardy, who almost rolls the last defender but Antonio Rudiger does well to clear.

Maxim Del Mar: The problem with England is that if Germany had dominated us like we've been dominating them, they'd be 3-0 up by now.

Alex Corps: Slow ponderous play by England. No sustained threat. Can only pass to the person next to them. Not good enough at this level.

Ben Davies: Lallana also possibly the best defensive attacking midfielder in the league - just saying!!

  12. GREAT SAVE!published at 55 mins

    Germany 0-0 England

Another good England counter. Dele Alli and Adam Lallana link up well and play it back to Eric Dier, he rather bundles his way through a challenge, shoves an offside Alli out of the way and lashes in a low drive which Marc-Andre ter Stegen pushes away, and out of the reach of the waiting Jamie Vardy.

Half chance for Lukas Podolski as Toni Kroos clips in an impossible pass over the top, perfect weight into his run but like Dele Alli moments earlier he can't make a telling connection.

Not an awful lot has happened in this second half. It's been very similar to the first.

The pace of the game means no-one is that tired, no-one is likely to get injured. I'm sure Lukas Podolski will come off at some point to a standing ovation.

  15. CLOSE!published at 53 mins

    Germany 0-0 England

England yet to get anywhere near the level of that first-half performance. Where they were snapping at the heels of the Germany players, now they are yards off the pace. Germany have upped their pace.

Leroy Sane twists and turns with the ball in the area, but he takes a wrong turn.

England counter, Jamie Vardy does brilliantly to latch on to a long ball and cross for Dele Alli - who can't make a clean connection.

Crawford Burns: Sorry England fans but it's a very poor Germany performance so far

Kyle: Excellent first half performance from England. Expect Germany to improve in the second half. Fascinatingly poised.

Saints fan: Typical. I get stuck at work and England decide to have a half decent game. Looking forward to reading how JWP and Redmond get on assuming they get a run out.

Germany were very, very poor in that first half and they have restarted like a team who were told exactly that during the break. On top now.

  18. CLOSE!published at 46 mins

    Germany 0-0 England

Sloppy start from England as Kyle Walker gives away a needless corner. Germany pack the area and Joe Hart can only punch the ball out to the edge of the area.

Julian Brandt hits it sweetly on the bounce, it looks in all the way, but flashes just wide. Poor from Hart.

Away we go! No half-time changes from England boss Gareth Southgate. Or from Germany boss Joachim Low for that matter.
