  1. YELLOW CARDpublished at 58 mins

    Manchester United 1-0 Saint-Etienne

Ander Herrera is booked for handball, he slid in for a tackle and ended up handling. It's significant because he is out of the second leg now.

  2. CLOSE!published at 57 mins

    Manchester United 1-0 Saint-Etienne

Much better from the hosts since half time, they look a more potent threat. They work the ball across the penalty area and Antonio Valencia skims a deflected shot wide of the far corner.

Jose Mourinho will want more than a one-goal lead in the second leg.

Good play again from Anthony Martial, skipping away from two men to charge into the box but Stephane Ruffier stands tall again to beat it clear.

The follow-up effort is pushed over too, and it appeared to come off a combo of Zlatan Ibrahimovic's head and Loic Perrin's arm.

  4. Postpublished at 52 mins

    Manchester United 1-0 Saint-Etienne

Loic Perrin is up on his feet, looking groggy. He is being looked at by doctors as we restart without him. Kevin Malcuit is back on though with a patched up mouth and a new shirt.

Paul Pogba blazes over and Perrin is back.

Another head injury as captains Chris Smalling and Loic Perrin collide, both attacking the ball at pace.

Smalling is soon up but the Saint-Etienne skipper is being looked at.

United have the ball in the net as Zlatan Ibrahimovic heads in from a fine Juan Mata cross, but he was offside and he knew it.

Anthony Martial is bookedImage source, PA

A touch of controversy as Anthony Martial throws up an arm to shield the ball from Kevin Malcuit, there's some force to it and the right-back is decked. He's bleeding too and Martial is booked.

I don't think I would call it an elbow, but it could have been a red card on anotehr day.

  8. Postpublished at 46 mins

    Manchester United 1-0 Saint-Etienne

It sounds like the French fans are singing the Gabby Agbonlahor song, which would be remarkably niche. Jesse Lingard's first touch is to send Zlatan Ibrahimovic in, but it comes to nothing.

Marouane Fellaini can't even get 90 minutes in in the Europa League, he's hooked at half time for Jesse Lingard.

  11. Stokes ordered to pay Elvis impersonator 230,000 eurospublished at 21:05 Greenwich Mean Time 16 February 2017

Because how could, or why would, I not share a story with that headline?

Republic of Ireland international Anthony Stokes has been ordered to pay an Elvis impersonator 230,000 euros for headbutting him in a nightclub.

The Blackburn Rovers striker pleaded guilty to attacking Anthony Bradley in Buck Whaleys nightclub in Dublin on 8 June 2013.

Alex Thorman: Utd really missing Carrick's positioning, direction, and control this evening.

Peter: United in control but still a very tepid display, Fellaini has been especially pedestrian. Hopefully they'll improve in the second half.

  14. Goalline updatepublished at 21:00 Greenwich Mean Time 16 February 2017

Goalline news, while we're at it:

Championship clubs have agreed "in principle" to use goalline technology from the start of next season.

Clubs agreed to the decision on Thursday and it will be presented at the EFL annual general meeting in June.

  15. Goal or no goal?published at 21:00 Greenwich Mean Time 16 February 2017

    Europa League latest

The only 20:05 GMT kick-off that remains goalless is in Poland, but there has been a bit of a first-half taking point in the match between Legia Warsaw and Ajax.

Captain Davy Klaassen looked to have given the Dutch side the lead in the eighth minute with a shot that Legia keeper Arkadiusz Malarz somehow reached - but did he keep it out? Television replays suggested that the ball crossed the line before the keeper dragged it back. But there's no goalline technology in the Europa League, and the official behind the goal did not see it go in.

That free-kick does not get any better on multiple viewings. A shocker to concede. The TV pundits are also adamant that it should not have even been awarded in the first place.

Hapoel Be'er Sheva, who knocked Southampton out of the Europa League, had a dramatic end to the first half of their game against Turkish champions Besiktas.

Cenk Tosun put the visitors in front three minutes before the break, but Elyaniv Barda has prodded in an equaliser right on half-time for Hapoel.

Dave W: Bailly looks to have lost a yard of pace while he was away playing in the Africa Cup of Nations.

Thomas Hollern: Utd should be winning these games easily enough with the squad they have yet they always seem to make it hard for themselves.

AADZ: Very casual from Man Utd. Need to get hold of that midfield in the second half.

  19. 11-0published at 20:56 Greenwich Mean Time 16 February 2017

    Manchester United 1-0 Saint-Etienne

There's been a slight flaw in Saint-Etienne's otherwise impressive first half. Hitting the target.

They had 11 shots on goal in 45 minutes but not one tested Sergio Romero.
