Brighton began the afternoon with hopes of reclaiming top spot before Newcastle's game at Huddersfield, but they will end the weekend in second place after going down 3-0 at Nottingham Forest.

Jordan Rhodes scored twice as Sheffield Wednesday thrashed Norwich 5-1, while Reading ended their two-game losing run as Paul McShane's late header gave them victory over Wolves, who have now lost their last five league games.

At the bottom of the table, Blackburn climbed out of the relegation zone after beating fellow strugglers Wigan, and are replaced by Bristol City who saw Lee Tomlin miss a penalty in their 0-0 draw with Burton.

Newport couldn't have imagined much of a worse day than this, as they're beaten 4-0 at Rodney Parade by 23rd-placed Leyton Orient.

County are six points adrift at the bottom of the table, while their afternoon was made worse by wins for fellow strugglers Crewe, Hartlepool and Accrington.

At the top of the table, leaders Doncaster were held to a goalless draw at Crawley, while second-placed Plymouth earned a comfortable 2-0 win over third-placed Carlisle.

That allows Luton to close the gap to the Cumbrians to just one point, as they ran out 4-0 winners at Yeovil.

At the other end of the table, Gillingham moved five points clear of the relegation zone with a 2-1 win at fellow strugglers Bury, while Chesterfield scored late in added time to beat Swindon.

They're still playing in the game between Shrewsbury and Coventry, after a lengthy delay in play in the first-half to allow Sky Blues midfielder Andy Rose to receive treatment for a head injury.

    Nottm Forest 2-0 Brighton

Nottingham Forest double their lead to sew up the points, and it's a shocker from Albion keeper David Stockdale.

Full-back Liam Rosenior plays it back and Stockdale makes a mess of it, allowing  Ben Osborn to tap into an empty net.

It's been an afternoon to forget for the Seagulls. FIve minutes of added time are being played.

Mike Williamson, playing his first league game for around 15 months because of injury, is the man to go as he is sent off for a second bookable offence.
