The Crystal Palace defence won't give Liverpool an inch, but Philippe Coutinho only needs a centimetre. A split second on the ball, a turn and shot from the edge of the area. The surprise is that it ends up somewhere near the middle of The Kop.

Jeffrey Schlupp comes out of the traps quickly, powering down the right channel to win a corner. Anfield is still snoozing - a very sedate Sunday on Merseyside.

Vieira151: Coutinho 24, Benteke 42. I guess for Liverpool to win they need to score at a time that can't have the digits inverted

It's been a near perfect performance by Palace. They've been strong defensively and limited Liverpool to one chance for Can. Coutinho has no business scoring that free-kick.

When Liverpool get the ball in wide areas they are reluctant to get it in. Palace are making it very difficult and compact.

We know what Liverpool's plan is but they haven't got a Plan B.

It's a big second half now.

Ar vind: Liverpool getting complacent and getting punished. Sakho's celebrations were a bit odd. Never seen them before.

It started badly, only for Philippe Coutinho's free-kick to spark the game into life. You might even say Palace were on top at the end of the half.

EPM: Let's be honest Reds fans, how many had a bet on Benteke to score? We only bought him to stop this

Christian Benteke tried to keep a lid on his celebrations, but did get involved in an elaborate hand gesture with Mamadou Sakho. What's Sakho even doing down there?

There's a huge grin on Sam Allardyce's face.

It was terrible defending from Lovren who gambled [on where the ball would go]. It was a lovely ball by Cabaye, Benteke composes himself and fires into the net.

    Huge goal for Crystal Palace.

The equaliser! Christian Benteke just can't help but score against his former club and he ends a sweeping move to level in front of The Kop. Yohan Cabaye springs the offside trap, plays a devilish ball across goal and Benteke finishes at the far post. Game on.

What a pass from Milner - I think it's through the legs of the defender - then Wijnaldum crosses it in and I think in fairness to Can it bounces in front of him.

It goes 20 or 30 yards wide though. Terrible finish.

You want chances like this to fall to Coutinho, Firmino or a fit Mane. Not Emre Can. Lovely work down the left by James Milner, pulled back into the path of Can, who tries to steer the shot, only to put the ball somewhere near the corner flag.

One answer for Palace is provided by their wingers. Wilfried Zaha and Andros Townsend have switched flanks, with Zaha instantly causing problems down the left. That's the first time I can remember him having the ball.

Even when Phil Coutinho drops deep he has a magician's touch. Little floaty ball into the box, just beyond the run of James Milner. Palace look a little stunned. How are they going to create something to get back into this match?

Palace plan out of the window? They'll have to come out now, which should make for a better spectacle. It's more of Liverpool, though, Roberto Firmino getting to the line and pulling back a cross that is blocked by two yellow shirts.
