"The fans will be the ones who ultimately decide Arsene Wenger's fate."

Those are the words of an Arsenal board member. That is exactly what the fans are doing. They are making their voices heard.

If a new manager was to come in now though, it needs to be someone who will instantly make the fans think "yes - we have the right man for the job".

Nick UTA: Arsenal fans saying that result isn't good enough are kidding themselves. After March, a draw against City is a good result.

It was vitally important for Arsenal to get something out of that game with the situation they are currently in.

In terms of the league, a point isn't particularly great for either team.

It was up to Manchester City if they wanted to win this game but they didn't seem want to enough, throwing away a lead twice.

Watched this in a pub in London and several guys in front of me were laughing every time Wenger appeared on screen. So sad. Nobody was laughing when he arrived in the Premier League and set the bar for other managers at a whole new height. The only clubs who have 'consistently' challenged for the title since then are the two (City and Chelsea) who have had personal billions poured into them. Wenger's had a transfer pot to spend, but not the ability to compete on wages or the chance to re-invent his squad every two years. The man deserves so much more respect from a new generation of core fans who aren't old enough to remember Arsenal before 1997.

Manchester City forward Leroy Sane : "I am disappointed that we did not win, the other scores were good for us as Chelsea lost.

"It is very difficult to catch Chelsea, it was important that we won today. We only have one point and now on Wednesday we play them."

Arsenal host West Ham on Wednesday, then have consecutive Monday trips to Crystal Palace and Middlesbrough. If their clash with Stoke on the penultimate weekend is moved for whatever reason, then the Gunners might not play another league game on a Saturday this season.

Are we at the end of an era?

I do think the players proved they were behind Wenger a bit more today and they gave everything for their team.

But I think the Champions League is outside their grasp now. My gut feeling is it's going to be too much of a task for them - I hope they prove me wrong.

At the end of it all, Arsenal remain sixth, two points behind fifth-placed Manchester United and seven behind Manchester City in fourth. They have a game in hand on City.

City are 11 behind leaders Chelsea, with that trip to Stamford Bridge to come in midweek.

Well that ended a little bit of a damp squib. It was a smashing start. You couldn't catch your breath in commentary.

But in the second, Arsenal just didn't have the energy.

Arsenal will be the happier of the two teams to come away with a point. They will be the more grateful.

There are a few afters. Sergio Aguero and Nacho Monreal discuss the 'handball', while Pep Guardiola has a word with the referee. It's Pep who looks the unhappier of the coaches, but his embrace with Wenger is genuine.

All over. A breathless afternoon. You'd never use it as an example of how to defend, but the entertainment was top notch.

In the end, though, the draw doesn't really help either side.
