It's incredible that Arsenal worked so hard to get back into that first half, only to go behind again straight away. It's like losing your cat, having him turn up after a week on the missing list, then leaving the back door open for him to escape once more.

The break. A cracking first half. City dangerous, Arsenal daft as a brush.

This would have been brilliant. Somehow Alexis Sanchez delivers a cross despite sitting on his backside. Theo Walcott has space, but his volley just dips over.

The Gunners lift the mood with Theo Walcott's equaliser but are then suddenly all over the shop at the back as Sergio Aguero scores. Weak. Weak. Weak.

Emirates Stadium is quiet again. How to throw away momentum in one easy lesson.

There was actually some atmos inside the Emirates right after the goal. We've returned to silence punctuated by anger. Arsene Wenger is going some angry dancing on the touchline, like a man intermittently stabbed by a cattle prod.

Don't get ragged - keep your shape. What did I just say?

Arsenal never learn! This is like watching the Bayern Munich game all over again.

When will Arsenal learn? Two minutes after getting level, the Gunners are behind again with defending that would look ridiculous in the circus. With the ball pinging around the box, Sergio Aguero finds space on the left, no defender in the same post code. Steadied, shot across goal, inside the far post.

I dont know who is more surprised, Theo Walcott or the crowd?

It's awful defending and Theo Walcott just cashes in.

Arsenal are back in it in the most unlikely manner.

But they need to maintain some structure. Don't get ragged because you will be punished.

Do Arsenal deserve this? They've been gifted an equaliser by Manchester City's snoozing. More specifically, that of Gael Clichy. Corner, cleared, but Clichy doesn't get out. When the ball is nodded back forward, Clichy is playing three Arsenal forwards onside. One of them is Theo Walcott, who stabs in the leveller. City protest, but it's legit.

Arsenal are battling better but the game has slowed right down - City are not getting anywhere near the sort of space they were getting early on.

Pep Guardiola patrols the edge of his technical area in a dark suit. He would look smart, but the trousers are a little too short, like a kid who has returned to school in September after growing a few inches over the summer. Much more subdued at the Emirates, both on the pitch and in the stands. Are you not entertained?

Arsenal are not exactly giving Manchester City a going over - far from it - but they have actually started to give Pep Guardiola's side something to think about.

Not seen much of Arsene Wenger but Guardiola has started to adopt one or two unusual technical area poses as he starts to get frustrated.

Alexis Sanchez is sent flying by a combination of Raheem Sterling and David Silva. The Gunners, who have been the better side for the past five or 10 minutes, have a free-kick in a decent spot, left of the penalty area. Whipped in, flashes past everyone, goal kick.

That was the best passage of play from Arsenal so far.

You saw the imagination of Ozil there - no one knew he was going to back-heel that but Sanchez was on it like a flash.

You feel the fans are right behind them now because they are moving the ball much quicker.

City are sporting luminous socks. The type you see overly keen cyclists wear at night. Ooooffff, Theo Walcott has tattooed Fernandinho's ankle by going over the ball. Nothing given. Lucky boy, Theo. Then Fernandinho on Alexis Sanchez in the City box. Penalty? Nothing doing. Very good challenge.
