While we were in the fan zone earlier and dodging flying footballs, we enlisted former Scotland winger Pat Nevin and ex-England goalkeeper Rachel Brown-Finnis to a 'cloggy-up' challenge. It's fair to say that Scotland came out on top, with Rachel blaming the footwear for her attempt!

As she reminded us, there's a long way to go in this tournament! Both Pat and Rachel are part of the commentary team on BBC Radio 5 live tonight.

Scotland Women qualified for their first major tournament at the 14th attempt, after narrowly missing out in recent campaigns.

They earned seven wins from their eight games in qualifying, finishing as runners-up in their group, level on points with group winners Iceland.

Scottish victories - both home and away - against Belarus, Macedonia and Slovenia underlined their successful campaign.

England were unbeaten during qualifying for this tournament, with only a home draw against Belgium - who also qualified - denying them a 100% record in the campaign.

The Lionesses topped their group, scoring 32 goals in their eight games and conceding only once.

Their qualification - which was always expected, as the highest-ranked side in the group - was officially confirmed in rather unusual circumstances, as it was it was announced in June 2016 following an administrative error.

The four-year tournament cycle since the previous women's Euros has been a time of vast change for the game in Europe.

On a branding level, it wasn't long ago that Swedish side Tyreso, German club Turbine Potsdam and French outfit Juvisy were competing for major honours.

This year, in contrast, Barcelona, Manchester City, Lyon and PSG were the teams in the Women's Champions League semi-finals. So what's changed?

    England v Scotland (19:45 BST)

England boss Mark Sampson makes one change from the team which beat Switzerland 4-0 in a friendly in June, with Birmingham forward Ellen White coming in for new Barcelona striker Toni Duggan.

That means Chelsea midfielder Millie Bright slots in at centre-back to make her major tournament debut next to captain Steph Houghton, who will be up against Manchester City team-mate Jane Ross.

The Lionesses won all three of the most recent warm-up games, including July's victory over Denmark with a much-changed side.

England XI: Bardsley, Bronze, Bright, Houghton, Stokes; Scott, Moore; Nobbs, Kirby, White; Taylor.

England manager Mark Sampson claims there are 2,000 England fans attending tonight's match, but if the fan zone in central Utrecht was anything to go by earlier, Scotland supporters might outnumber them.

The Stadion Galgenwaard has a capacity of 23,750 and was sold out for the opener for Netherlands' win over Norway, but it's doubtful whether it will be full tonight.
