  2. Postpublished at 53 mins

    Watford 2-1 Liverpool

    Lucky.

Nordin Amrabat puts his own side into trouble with a wayward pass, straight into the path of Sadio Mane in the area.

The Senegal man looks up and tries to pick out Egyptian Mohamed Salah at the back post, but it is too long.

And on comes Richarlison, wanted by Ajax and AC Milan and Chelsea, but he is here at Vicarage Road.

What a time to come on and make your debut.

We don't know much about him. Liverpool won't know much about him. I think everyone will be licking their lips.

  4. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 50 mins

    Watford 2-1 Liverpool

The wonderfully-named Brazilian Richarlison is the man who comes on in place of Roberto Pereyra.

From this moment on, he will be known as Charlie.

    A straight swap.

  5. CLOSE!published at 48 mins

    Watford 2-1 Liverpool

Another Mohamed Salah, another off target.

The Egyptian stands up Jose Holebas on the right but his curled effort does not bend back in enough and sails wide of goal.

Tony: Once again, Klopp has set his team up to beat the bigger sides, but not the smaller teams they're expected to beat.

    Oh no.

Roberto Pereyra down for Watford, holding his groin.

They have already lost full-back Daryl Janmaat in this match.

Jurgen Klopp in animated dialogue with counterpart Marco Silva, unhappy the Hornets man has gone down.

Not sure he can do much if he is injured.

Pereyra manages to drag himself off the ground and heads straight down the tunnel.

  8. Postpublished at 47 mins

    Watford 2-1 Liverpool

As you were both sides, no changes made at the interval so that Liverpool back four continues.

    Hmm.

  9. KICK-OFFpublished at 46 mins

    Watford 2-1 Liverpool

Only Tottenham (4) have won more Premier League games that they have been losing at half-time than Liverpool since Jurgen Klopp took charge of the Reds.

Bodes well for the travelling supporters.

    Off we go again.

    Watford 2-1 Liverpool

Love a bit of cross-sport action.

England cricket's paceman Steven Finn has been spotted in the stands at Vicarage Road. Big Hornets fan is big Steve.

    Watford 2-1 Liverpool

    Matthew Upson

I think Stefano Okaka has done well up front. There were a few raised eyebrows, but he has done himself the power of good today.

Matty Ratcliffe: No back line, no creativity in midfield. No investment in those issues. We will end up like Newcastle.

Jon Hare: Moreno & Can better than Milner? Klopp again has no idea.

Loz Smith: Are Liverpool players nervous or something? So many poor touches/over-hit passes/mis-timed tackles. Looking lacklustre.

  13. 'So far so good'published at 13:26 British Summer Time 12 August 2017

    Watford 2-1 Liverpool

    Derek Payne
Former Watford midfielder on BBC Three Counties Radio

A really good half from Watford's point of view. Liverpool are one of the big beasts of the Premier League but it's clear the hosts have got a gameplan - sit deep then counter-attack.

So far so good, both in terms of the scoreline and the team performance. Watford can be pleased with that first 45 minutes.

And there goes the half-time whistle, Watford deservedly in front.

Jurgen Klopp stomps down the tunnel and straight into the transfer market for a defender.

  16. 'A really interesting physical battle'published at 13:19 British Summer Time 12 August 2017

    Watford 2-1 Liverpool

    Derek Payne
Former Watford midfielder on BBC Three Counties Radio

Mane remains the most dangerous Liverpool player. It's a really interesting physical battle between him and Amrabat, whose job appears to be simply to stub him out.

  17. CLOSE!published at 45+3 mins

    Watford 2-1 Liverpool

Liverpool earn a corner, which is taken by Roberto Firmino.

It is little Sadio Mane who leaps highest to flick a header towards the back post, but Watford goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes breaths a sigh of relief as he sees it skip inches wide of the post.

The Brazilian stopper was diving towards it, but was not getting there.

  18. Postpublished at 45+2 mins

    Watford 2-1 Liverpool

Oh dear, Mohamed Salah not having the best of days.

The Egyptian is picked out on the right-edge of the box by a precise Jordan Henderson pass.

Salah attempts to play the ball back into the danger area with his right foot, but can only screw it over Heurelho Gomes's goal.

  19. Postpublished at 45 mins

FOUR added minutes because of the stoppage due to Daryl Janmaat's injury early on in the match.
